Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 1.74% or 1.90 points to trade at 110.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.21% or 1.100 points to end at 92.080 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 1.12% or 1.60 points to 144.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which fell 2.65% or 1.25 points to trade at 45.95 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 2.33% or 1.35 points to end at 56.60 and Sofina (BR:SOF) was down 0.87% or 1.20 points to 136.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 57 to 52 and 13 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.54% or 20.50 to $1350.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.32% or 0.19 to hit $59.38 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.29 to trade at $63.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.2401, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8881.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 89.22.
