Are DOGE layoffs set to resume?
Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Utilities and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB SA (EBR:UCB), which rose 1.31% or 2.10 points to trade at 162.00 at the close. Meanwhile, KBC Groep NV (EBR:KBC) added 1.06% or 0.92 points to end at 87.88 and Ackermans & Van Haaren NV (EBR:ACKB) was up 0.98% or 2.20 points to 226.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sofina (EBR:SOF), which fell 2.04% or 5.20 points to trade at 249.60 at the close. Azelis Corporate Services NV (EBR:AZE) declined 1.30% or 0.19 points to end at 14.38 and Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR:WDPP) was down 1.03% or 0.22 points to 21.24.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 54 to 42 and 12 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 2.65% or 87.75 to $3,403.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.41% or 2.07 to hit $62.86 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 3.33% or 2.09 to trade at $64.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.70% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 98.70.
