Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Metals & Mining and Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Isentia Group Ltd (AX:ISD), which rose 5.64% or 0.093 points to trade at 1.732 at the close. Meanwhile, Evolution Mining Ltd (AX:EVN) added 4.45% or 0.105 points to end at 2.465 and Nextdc Ltd (AX:NXT) was up 4.24% or 0.185 points to 4.545 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Brickworks Ltd (AX:BKW), which fell 3.28% or 0.480 points to trade at 14.150 at the close. Asaleo Care (AX:AHY) declined 2.76% or 0.040 points to end at 1.410 and Bank Of Queensland Ltd. (AX:BOQ) was down 2.49% or 0.290 points to 11.360.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 547 to 514 and 393 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nextdc Ltd (AX:NXT) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.24% or 0.185 to 4.545.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.86% to 12.760.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.09% or 1.10 to $1262.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.51% or 0.26 to hit $50.87 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.52% or 0.28 to trade at $53.59 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.24% to 0.7496, while AUD/JPY fell 0.04% to 83.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 96.80.
