Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Gold, Metals & Mining and Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 added 1.95%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd (ASX:LNG), which rose 15.60% or 0.220 points to trade at 1.630 at the close. Meanwhile, Southern Cross Media Group Ltd (ASX:SXL) added 9.29% or 0.085 points to end at 1.000 and Karoon Gas Australia Ltd (ASX:KAR) was up 9.17% or 0.155 points to 1.845 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ainsworth Game Technology Ltd (ASX:AGI), which fell 2.88% or 0.080 points to trade at 2.700 at the close. Graincorp Ltd (ASX:GNC) declined 0.53% or 0.050 points to end at 9.300 and M Pharma Fp (ASX:MYX) was down 0.48% or 0.005 points to 1.030.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 556 to 248 and 248 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.06% to 24.388.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.23% or 2.60 to $1134.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.77% or 0.35 to hit $45.89 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.35 to trade at $48.48 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.21% to 0.7062, while AUD/JPY rose 0.33% to 84.78.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 95.88.
