Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Energy, Consumer Discretionary and A-REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Bellamys Australia Ltd (ASX:BAL), which rose 4.89% or 0.460 points to trade at 9.860 at the close. Meanwhile, Afterpay Touch Group Ltd (ASX:APT) added 4.27% or 1.010 points to end at 24.680 and Nearmap Ltd (ASX:NEA) was up 4.14% or 0.130 points to 3.270 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Domain Holdings Australia Ltd (ASX:DHG), which fell 6.21% or 0.190 points to trade at 2.870 at the close. Adelaide Brighton Ltd (ASX:ABC) declined 4.04% or 0.180 points to end at 4.280 and Computershare Ltd. (ASX:CPU) was down 3.57% or 0.590 points to 15.950.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 678 to 522 and 385 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.21% to 10.788.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.59% or 8.40 to $1418.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.41% or 0.23 to hit $56.45 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.31 to trade at $63.57 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.15% to 0.7024, while AUD/JPY rose 0.12% to 75.96.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 97.157.
