Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Energy, Resources and Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Mineral Resources Ltd (ASX:MIN), which rose 8.31% or 1.75 points to trade at 22.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:OBL) added 6.47% or 0.11 points to end at 1.81 and IGO Ltd (ASX:IGO) was up 5.06% or 0.21 points to 4.36 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Healius Ltd (ASX:HLS), which fell 5.63% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.09 at the close. Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:RMS) declined 5.57% or 0.16 points to end at 2.71 and St Barbara Ltd (ASX:SBM) was down 4.69% or 0.02 points to 0.31.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 573 to 523 and 460 ended unchanged.
Shares in Healius Ltd (ASX:HLS) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.63% or 0.07 to 1.09. Shares in Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:OBL) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.47% or 0.11 to 1.81.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.11% to 13.07.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.84% or 61.44 to $3,282.56 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.51% or 0.92 to hit $61.94 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.39% or 0.89 to trade at $64.80 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.42% to 0.64, while AUD/JPY rose 0.85% to 94.00.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 100.44.
