Investing.com - Prime Day is the new Black Friday if you look at the results for Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN).

The e-commerce giant reported that this year’s two-day shopping extravaganza was bigger than last year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined, with 175 million items sold.

The July 15-16 sale was also the biggest event for Amazon devices like Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick and Alexa Voice Remote, the company said.

“Members purchased millions of Alexa-enabled devices, received tens of millions of dollars in savings by shopping from Whole Foods Market and bought more than $2 billion of products from independent small and medium-sized businesses,” CEO and Founder Jeff Bezos said in a press release.

Amazon shares were offset by news that the European Union has opened an antitrust investigation into its use of merchants’ data.

Amazon fell 0.5% in midday trade.

because the economy is running on air lol, look at the figures, everything is slowing down and is screaming for rate cuts.
And to boost the economy Amazon is doing sales ;)
QE stock bubble
That’s 2 billion in sales but how much of that will be in credit card debt.
last sentence amzn fell :D
Why are we cutting rates ....
So that the huge corporations have more money to increase the pay of their executives and buy back their own shares. And, to reduce the interest we earn on our deposits. Rich get richer, others get poorer. BTW, how many studies have shown that the lowering of interest rates boosts the economy? I have come across some which posit the opposite. So 'lowering interest rates to boost the economy' could be another of those lies which we accept without counter-questioning. Even intuitively, it does not make sense if you give it a deeper thought. Of course, a genuine economics researcher could shed some light on it. I am not too sure anymore.
and why are we screaming recession...
Because debt and low interest rates in a fake boom economy?
just look at truck industry and truckers.
Wonderful
Those Nasie bears don’t play
