WASHINGTON/PALO ALTO (Reuters) - Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) on Friday deleted new tweets posted by U.S. President Donald Trump on official government account @POTUS and suspended the account of his presidential campaign, after booting his personal account off the platform permanently.

Trump tweeted "We will not be SILENCED!" from the @POTUS government account, with 33.4 million followers. Twitter had permanently suspended the president's go-to megaphone, his @realDonaldTrump personal account, hours earlier.

The company said accounts used by Trump to try to get around the ban could face permanent suspension as well under its "ban evasion" policies.

"Twitter is not about FREE SPEECH," Trump wrote in the now-deleted tweets, adding that he is considering building his own social media platform in the near future.

Twitter shut down his @TeamTrump campaign account shortly after it sent out a tweet with a "statement from President Trump" accusing Twitter of "banning free speech" and coordinating with "the Democrats and the Radical Left" to silence him.

The account shortly before that had pointed its 2.3 million followers to its account on Parler, which is popular with conservatives for its hands-off approach to content moderation.

Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Inc's Google suspended Parler on Friday, citing posts inciting violence, while Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) gave the service 24 hours to submit a detailed moderation plan.

You can see how Trump is digging his and America's grave. There's No future for an ununified America. Who is Trump working for? -- Every minute of such DIVIDE ET VINCERE puts America behind the curve.
Chris S. - You're right, but I reckon the phrase ' Divide et Vincere' will be totally meaningless to supporters of the great orange ring-piece. Probably need to draw them some kind of picture & explain to them that they've been conquered by their own Great Leader.
Twitter/FB communists
oh shut it....hope theres an fbi knock on your door soon
Finally; it took them long time to do it
The USA should take a good look at so called news outlets that creat and alternative reality, deny facts, to create a dangerous narrative that destabilizes the USA. There should be a law for this. If media outlets don’t check the facts of the news they put out, they should be fined. This should happen all over the world if you ask me.
And by the way, there is nothing social about social media if it all goes onchecked Glad there are finally some changes here
Mister Trump there is a difference between spewing poisonous nonsence and free speech. This should have happened 5 years ago.
It's like crack to Trump he's lost his candy it's a sickness....it's sickening to watch.
Amen
hehehe... brainwash at it's finest... US is going to chit, quite a shame...
If they can censor US president they can censor everyone. Most dangerous development of the century
Now google and apple determine other platforms policy?! Monopoly and sensorship? When USA became URSS? Sad day for democracy. RIP USA
New totalitarism, where is freedom to speech?
Freedom of Speech didn't go anywhere. It's not the government blocking Trump, it's an independent corporation basically removing an unwanted disruptive guest from their property. Just like a bouncer will remove you from the bar when you become too obnoxious and break the rules.
1st amendment "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." It doesn't protect you from private companies for your info
Sam, you are correct, and this one of the biggest things that snowflake Trumpets get so wrong. The 1st Ammendment is about what government cannot do to the people, not about what corporations or individuals cannot do.
incredible! Trump is fainting for the peoples... they shoit shout down Twitter and put them.in prison
He is a conman, liar, egomaniac, evil, vicious, dictador wannabe, disgraceful, an embarrassment.
Twitter needs to be gone next week
