BEIJING (Reuters) - China's economic recovery is accelerating but the coronavirus outbreak situation in the epicentre of Hubei province and its capital Wuhan is still dire, the ruling Communist Party's Politburo said on Wednesday according to a state television report.

China cannot ignore the risks of a coronavirus epidemic resurgence in certain regions, the report added.

The government would not let up on its push for stronger epidemic control, and would implement at a faster rate various works pertaining to economic and social development, the Politburo said.

The pace of the improvement of the epidemic control situation was expanding, it added.

The Politburo, headed by President Xi Jinping, is the second-smallest of the three elite party bodies that run the country.

China's central bank has taken steps to support the economy, including reducing interest rates and flushing the market with liquidity. It has also said it will provide special funds for banks to lend to businesses.

The flu-like disease, which was first detected in the city of Wuhan last December, has infected more than 80,000 people globally and killed more than 2,700 in mainland China.

The World Health Organization has said the epidemic in China peaked between Jan. 23 and Feb. 2 and has been in decline since.

Some Chinese provinces are lowering their emergency response levels and gradually resuming work, though the government is also on alert for any resurgence in cases.

Most of you guys are China haters. If President Xi was so bad, then explained to me how China is able to lift 90 percent of their population out of poverty in a decades time? Tell me if their system is broken when they can produce high quality products at the cheapest price. Tell me which country an beat them in their supply infrastructure?
Well said DW :)
Everyday China posts something stupid.  For example, they developed Corona Virus cure. Or economy is blooming.
sounds like Trump's cronies like Mnuchin, Navarro, Barr and Kudlow all BS
Really? This is just nonsense. Now you know they are desperate to makebsuch statement. If they are working again, there has to be orders to bebfulfilled by other countries whobmay potentially be idle
The problem with communists, ie non-democratic: There is no truth possible. And the leaders do not learn. A chaotic system that goes in opposite ways and stays one step ahead of self-imploding. Xi is the biggest problem. He and the CCP need to go. Regime change without bringing another communist in. The other problem: by systematically training the Chinese population to run in a one-way street they will have a hard time bringing the country back to the center once Xi and his abusers are gone, similar to Iraq after Saddam was gone.
It's not possible to believe anything China says after seeing the repeated lying they have been doing while the whole world was watching and shaking its head. Xi was behaving like a youngster trying his first stick-shift car drive and seeing what works and what doesn't work. Clearly the multiple ways of counting didn't work. Hilarious. Chinese leaders think they are all alone and that nobody watches them. Ridiculous that the world even does business with such low life.
This thing is far from over!! China cannot be trusted.
All garbage. Nothing china says can't be trusted. Can't run a great country with a lying dictator.
True
Lies
I told you guys ... China's economic recovery is accelerating. Is not all doom and bloom as the Fake Media made it out to be.
True. Xi needs to abdicate in disgrace for suppressing the truth when people were dying and pay trillions of dollars in reparations for committing CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY. Class action lawsuits are being prepared against Xi and his lying cohort.
But the WHO already said China is doing a great job. So does so many countries saying it. Only you small haters living in la la land said otherwise.
Anybody really believes WHO? Tedro will sure step down once this crisis is over
