(Reuters) - Argentina's Economy Minister Martin Guzman is pushing for a deal by May with the International Monetary Fund to repay $44 billion in debt, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, citing his interview.

For the deal, Guzman plans to narrow Latin American country's budget deficit this year to about 6% of annual economic output, from 8.5% in 2020, the report added.

Argentina and the IMF are currently in talks to renegotiate a failed $57 billion programme from 2018 which was the largest in the fund's history.

Hello scammer!
Hmm how come south American countries are so poor and badly run? After all they are socialist countries and should prosper?
How come United States' national debt is so high with one of the world´s highest level of inequality and a lack of a medical coverage for the majority? Maybe socialism is not that bad after all.
The US is broke because of failed socialist programs, like Social Security and Obamacare.
Argentina is not a socialist country. They have some democratic socialist policies but during the last Administration they were moving away from those even. You don't know anything about South American countries apparently.
I thought stealing the private retirement fund were going to save Argentina's problems in 2008.
2008? It is old. They defaulted many times since then. Socialism works.
Get in SLV on Monday it is the next GME The banks and markwt manipulators are about to get burned all the redditors are sending SLV to the moon

Misleading title. They actually want a deal to avoid the repayment.
Serial defaulters.  They are a hedge funds dream come true.  those guys love snapping up that debt when it goes into default for pennies on the dollar and then working it out with them for 30 cents on the dollar.the whole country is a joke.  it's a good example of what happens when the left takes over with all their ideology and concern for the poor.  same old song and dance. We can do no wrong because we hold the moral high ground because we care about poor people.  Lol
Shouldnt give them a loan
xDD, what a joke of country they will never repay anything
At least they're not 23 trillion in debt like the US.
it's 30 Trillion Jeff and has nothing to do with Argentina. Inconsistency is the hobnob of a simple mind
