Investing.com - The monthly Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, or JOLTS, showed that job openings fell in September, according to data released on Tuesday.
Job openings, a measure of labor demand, fell by 284,000 to 7.009 million in September, the Labor Department said.
Economists had forecast job openings of 7.100 million.
There were 7.293 million openings in the prior month, an upward revision from the initial 7.136 million.
The report also indicated that, over the month, hires and separations were both little changed at 5.7 million.
Within separations, the quits rate was unchanged at 2.4% and the layoffs and discharges rate was little changed at 1.1%.
