  • U.S. congress candidate January Walker thinks the Bitcoin network is inefficient.
  • Walker added that Cardano and Hedera are “extremely efficient.”
  • The politician thinks that blockchain can solve the water crisis.

January Walker, a politician gunning for a seat in the U.S. Congress, said that Bitcoin is among those blockchain networks that are inefficient, while alternative chains, such as Cardano and Hedera, are “extremely efficient.” She even believes that transactions using Hedera are even more efficient than those using Visa (NYSE:V).

What prompted Walker to say this was a comment made on her thread, where she claims that blockchain technology “will help solve the current water crisis.” Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) User Max Roi says that “a blockchain is an extremely inefficient database,” to which Walker replies not all networks, including Cardano, are inept.

In explaining why she thinks blockchain can contribute to the solutions to the water crisis, Walker says blockchain paired with IoT technology can improve the consumption control of smart water grid systems. Moreover, the congressional candidate claims that the new technology can be sustainable and will be efficient in policymaking.

She added that with blockchain, water systems will be more resilient and long-lasting, especially in the face of drought.

January Walker, 33, is a candidate for Congress from the centrist United Utah party. Walker runs for office on the platform of being a “pragmatic” and “futuristic” candidate. Her previous occupation was that of a product manager before she entered politics. The United Utah Party aims to eliminate the influence of tribalism in politics by centering its platform on matters on which the great majority of citizens agree.
