Robert Corriveau on Gavel Coin: the Future of E-Commerce

Over 20 blockchain startups pitched their projects during the quickfire session in NEXT BLOCK Conference that took place in Kyiv on May 18. The participants had five minutes at their disposal to sell their crypto or blockchain idea to the savvy audience that gathered at the five star Hilton Hotel in the Ukrainian capital.

Robert Corriveau, a successful entrepreneur, business consultant, and founder and CEO of Cryptodipity and Gavel Coin, gave a presentation on the upcoming ICO of his Gavel Coin venture. He talked about the future of e-commerce and of the role his company will play in the industry’s development.

Gavel Coin is a cryptocurrency for auctions and for trading goods and services. Mr. Corriveau spoke about the ambitious aims of the project to become the crypto version of ebay, but on a much larger scale, covering the entire e-commerce universe, including goods, services, travel, the consulting industry and beyond.

Gavel Coin will be an instrument for crypto inclusiveness, as it puts an emphasis on getting small business involved in the digital economy.

"We are allocating 15% of Gavel Coin that we have to actually help small businesses working with cryptocurrency and market them as well," Mr. Corriveau said.

"We already just locked one of the biggest engines in the US for travel, so you can book your airfare, your hotel, your car rental and so forth through our site," he went on, explaining that unlike the majority of ICO projects, Gavel Coin is a working project with real shops and sellers doing business on the Cryptodipity marketplace. So the company is going to ICO to build on the foundation they have and grow the project into a comprehensive global e-commerce ecosystem for cryptos.

What makes the Gavel Coin project stand out is the effort to help smaller businesses get involved in the crypto economy with ready-to-use solutions and white label programs.

"We are going to offer a turnkey situation for anybody else that wants to start working with cryptocurrencies as far as payments, gateways, you name it, the whole nine yards. It's as simple as putting in your address, and you are up and running".

Gavel Coin will allow access to the Cryptodipity marketplace and will be used in all transactions on the platform, like gas is used for Ethereum-based transactions. Describing the tokenomics of the project, Mr. Corriveau underlined that users would be allowed to accept and use the cryptocurrencies of their choice as a means of payment, while Gavel Coin will be needed to finance transactions.

"We do plan to convert it. In the future, once we build up the company and start growing our membership base to the point when you can actually convert your Gavel Coin to shares in Cryptodipity", he added answering the questions about why they are introducing their own coin.
