MoonPay Draws the Hollywood Glitterati to Raise $87 million Funds

  • MoonPay has raised $555 million in Series A funding recently, with Gwyneth Paltrow, Gal Gadot, and Brie Larson among the investors.
  • Questlove, Matthew McConaughey, and Eva Longoria are some of the investors in MoonPay.
  • MoonPay’s total valuation now stands at $3.4 billion.

The leading global crypto payments infrastructure provider, MoonPay, reveals its newest Hollywood joiners, as they are now among over 60 shining Hollywood stars who have already invested in an $87M fund.

Many of Hollywood’s brightest and most famous artists such as Steve Aoki, Justin Bieber, Brie Larson, Gal Gadot, Eva Longoria, and Paris Hilton, along with major Hollywood organizations like Ashton Kutcher’s Sound Ventures, contributed millions to the payment infrastructure firm.

The news made enough buzz on Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) as famous news pages and well-known Twitter personalities talked about it.

Gwyneth Paltrow, the famous actress and one of the investors in MoonPay, commented.

Web3 is encouraging the entertainment sector, and commerce in general, to reimagine the way we create community, connect with fans, produce value, and govern intellectual property.

“It will not suffice to simply make new [NFT] drops and hope for the best; you must be far more participative. That is made possible via Web3.” Aoki, who was known for his collaboration with the biggest boy group BTS, said as he was announced to be one of the new members.

Michael Ovitz, the co-founder of Hollywood powerhouse Creative Artists Agency, also praised MoonPay’s technology, saying that it lowers the barrier to enter into the crypto market.

After securing $555 million in a Series A round headed by Coatue and Tiger Global Management in December, MoonPay increased its total valuation to $3.4 billion. The site now has successfully made its way to a number of 10 million subscribers in 160 countries.

MoonPay’s best feature is that it interfaces with other crypto services to allow consumers to purchase cryptocurrency using a credit or debit card. This allows for purchases and payments on Bitcoin.com and other sites. So many users and investors are drawn to MoonPay’s universality and user-friendly approach.

The service also handles NFT transactions for OpenSea and is most well-known for facilitating celebrity Bored Ape purchases.
