Global Head of Gaming and Virtual Reality at YouTube Leaves Google to Become CEO of Polygon Studios

After 8 years at his post, Ryan Wyatt, the head of YouTube Gaming, is leaving to join Polygon Technology. He had joined Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) after his reign as vice president of programming at Major League Gaming.

Indeed, Wyatt is doubtlessly a prominent figure in the gaming industry: holder of Shorty award, co-author of New York Times best-seller “OpTic Gaming: The Making of eSports Champions,” and was listed in the “Forbes 30 Under 30,” and “Fortune’s 40 under 40” lists.

In a farewell statement, Wyatt remarked:

“I will miss YouTube dearly, but it is time for me to pursue other endeavours in life and where my passions are taking me”

"I'll be leading the Polygon Studios organization across Gaming, Entertainment, Fashion, News, Sports, and more. I'm excited to work with developers and builders across the Polygon ecosystem and I'll be sharing more about my journey over the coming months”

“I am fascinated by blockchain app development and am beyond thrilled to enter the web3 space.”

Interestingly enough, Polygon (MATIC) recovered by almost 10% following the announcement, the largest such adjustment among the top 20 cryptos of recent times.

One thing that seems unusual about the timing is that Wyatt announced his departure on the same day that the YouTube’s CEO, Susan Wojcicki, revealed that the company was looking into crypto and NFTs.
