French Fashion Brand Lacoste Splashes Underwater NFT Collection

Looking for some amazing “drip”? French apparel label Lacoste has been around since 1933 and has left its mark not only in fashion, but in sports as well. Founded by tennis player Rene Lacoste, the apparel line is now entering the metaverse, where NFT enthusiasts and tech-savvy people can finally mix with the friendly crocodile.

Lacoste Discord Server Launched Earlier This Month

although the current circumstances in the crypto market can somewhat inconvenience new NFT projects, Lacoste has decided that now is the right time to enter the futuristic world of Web 3.0. Just over a week ago, Lacoste launched its official Discord channel, receiving over 30,000 members within the first 48 hours. Now, the Lacoste crocodile is ready to give innovation the green light.

11,212 Collectibles Marking the Legendary Polo

The underwater NFT collection, stylized as ‘UNDW3′, is a reference to the trademark polo short, called ‘L1212′. The classic polo design was invented by Lacoste and is among the brand’s top garments to this day. The floor price of the drippy NFT collection starts at 0.08 ETH, which is approximately $89. The stylish NFTs feature the image of a crocodile with shiny, ocean blue eyes that will no doubt help fans mint their NFTs. “It all starts with a Crocodile..”, the homepage of Lacoste’s UNDW3 explains.

One thing that separates UNDW3 from other fashion-related NFT collections is that each NFT owner will be able to collaborate with Lacoste to co-design new clothes. “Collectors will be able to access a pioneering ecosystem and digital, physical and experiential benefits in the world of the crocodile, such as co-created products exclusively for them”, the official blog post outlined.

Previously, Lacoste has teamed up with Minecraft to introduce ‘Croco Island’, which is “halfway between the virtual and the real”. However, now Lacoste thinks it’s about time to bridge the gap between its digital fans, and the brand’s loyal customers in the real world.

To conclude, it seems that Lacoste has long term plans in the Web 3.0 space, and has prepared a lengthy list of perks for UNDW3 NFT holders. In order to mint an NFT together with the suave crocodile, one must join a raffle everyday at 12:12 CET, and, of course, a full package of experiences will be unlocked once the number of NFTs minted hits 11212. That being said, it’s likely that the friendly Lacoste crocodile will come back for more at a later date.
