The founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin has come out to clarify his fiat holdings. Buterin was responding to a published analysis of his primary wallet address. The analysis took into account the founder’s crypto wallets, cash from the Ether sales, equity in startups and the annual salary he receives. According to CryptoSlate, Buterin net worth comes to about $79 million.
His Ethereum holdings are by far the largest asset Buterin owns. At the moment he has a balance of 350,000 ETH that is worth $47 million considering Ether is trading at $135 per coin.
The analysis by Alex Sunnarborg of Tetras Capital, on March 19 estimates that Buterin has received $49 million from the sale of 545,000 ETH from March 2016. However, the founder of the second largest cryptocurrency has refuted this figure saying that his fiat holdings are “well under” $30 million. This figure does not include the $8 million to charity donations. Buterin wrote in response to the analysis:
“My fiat holdings are well under $30m. You likely overestimated due to (1) all prices generally being on the high side, eg. I definitely never cashed out anywhere close to the $915 level, (2) forgetting charity donations (~$8m I believe).”
