Status.im, the first mobile Ethereum client created solely on peer-to-peer technologies, and Iuri Matias, the creator of the Embark Framework, have launched a joint project called Embark by Status. This initiative is introduced under Status Projects and aims to promote and stimulate web3 ecosystem mass adoption.
Embark has built a flexible and comprehensive decentralized application (DApp) ecosystem where developers can quickly create and deploy decentralized apps, thus encouraging adoption of a vibrant decentralized web. Embark by Status takes the solution to the next level, offering a highly productive and intuitive environment for building beautiful, intuitive, and easy-to-use DApps.
Status raised over $100 million by crowdsale and is almost ready to start beta-testing the app on its MainNet. The latest Alpha release, 0.9.17, includes a lot of fascinating DApps, such as CryptoKitties, CrytpoCribs, Bancor, among others. Considering that many more projects plan to transition to MainNet in 2018, Embark by Status will help talented developers across the globe improve their DApps and take them from proof-of-concept to production, thus fostering a robust web3 experience.
“I started working on Embark in 2015 when developer tooling was practically non-existent, and barriers to DApp development were significantly higher than today,” said Matias. “Embark demonstrated that tooling makes DApp development less intimidating for first-time DApp developers and hastens the path to creating production-ready decentralized applications. Now, by partnering with Status, we can speed up development, making the framework more powerful and streamlined for developers everywhere.”
Iury built EtherSim, an Ethereum RPC simulator for testing and development purposes. Now, he is working on the Remix project with the Ethereum Foundation, and so continues to add value to Ethereum and the web3 ecosystem.
A talented project team has equipped Embark with unique features that allow users to connect and upload their DApps to IPFS or Swarm, get contracts and libraries directly from URLs. This helps standardize the extensive knowledge and experience accumulated by the community.
Embark also has a set of modular plugins that will handle a variety of tasks, such as debugging, linting, building for webpack, and connecting to platforms. However, developers are not limited to the built-in features; they can write their plugins to serve their unique needs. Embark is a plug-and-play solution for mobile DApp development, which makes it perfect for those who are planning to launch their first mobile DApp.
Status provides Embark team with support in:
- Hiring talents and building the team
- Sorting out technical problems through the support from Status Core contributors
- Marketing and attracting new developers to the framework
The Embark by Status team has already welcomed three new members. Jonathan Rainville, RJ Catalano, and Eric Mastro. They will join Iuri 's team to take the framework to a new level with the launch of Embark 3.0.
