Bitcoin Cafe in Israel: Leading Chain Café Joe Supports Coinbase Wallet

You can now enjoy a cup of your favorite joe at Café Joe USA outlets with your Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies. The leading Israeli-coffee shop chain said it is now supporting the Coinbase payment option and Nano.

Café Joe said in a statement:

“It’s not necessarily due to a specific demand from the cryptocurrency community for that bitter, morning beverage that fuels America (although, we’re sure that day trading requires a proper dosage of caffeine.). It’s rather the idea that Bitcoin would be integrated into our daily lives enough to purchase a pull of espresso, which has been an aspirational goal for many early adopters of cryptocurrencies.”

It added that digital currencies, which have grown by leaps and bounds over the past few months and attracted the attention of investors, techies, and even anarchists, has been hindered by long transfer lines and high transaction fees. These make buying everyday items using virtual currencies less than ideal.

Fortunately, Coinbase Commerce, a cryptocurrency exchange and storage site platform, recently rolled out an integrated payment system that simplifies purchases using digital currencies. Cafe Joe USA quickly adopted the technology, the company said.

“Our forward-thinking approach to commerce is what has brought Israeli-based Cafe Joe to American homes, and now to crypto coffee lovers around the world,” it added.

The move was quickly welcomed by coffee and crypto lovers.

Pierre Kennel, CEO of Crypto Concierge, commented:

“We are very excited to see forward-thinking companies like Cafe Joe embrace the emerging trend towards cryptocurrency as a viable way to handle transactions. This is an exciting time in the evolution of technology and the early adopters will have a leg up on the competition once blockchain hits the mainstream.”

Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) inches closer to accepting cryptocurrencies

Late last month, Starbucks’ chairman Howard Schultz hinted that the coffee behemoth is inching closer to incorporating blockchain into its system and will start accepting cryptocurrency payments.

Schultz said, “I think Blockchain technology is probably the rails in which an integrated app at Starbucks will be sitting on top of,” without giving a timeframe when the food and beverage retailer will finally accept digital currencies.

In December, Singapore-based Ducatus Café opened another early-adoption cryptocurrency café. Ducatus CEO Ronny Tome said all transactions in the café are cashless and use only Bitcoin, and its very own digital currency called Ducatus.
