(Reuters) - President Joe Biden's U.S. administration is privately encouraging Ukraine’s leaders to signal an openness to negotiate with Russia and drop their public refusal to engage in peace talks unless President Vladimir Putin is removed from power, the Washington Post reported.

FIGHTING, CONFLICT

* The White House National Security Council had no immediate comment on the accuracy of the Post report. A State Department spokesperson said: "The Kremlin continues to escalate this war. The Kremlin has demonstrated its unwillingness to seriously engage in negotiations since even before it launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine."

* Ukraine's Russian-held Nova Kakhovka dam was damaged in shelling by Ukrainian forces, Russian news agencies reported on Sunday, citing emergency services. The reports provided no evidence to support the allegation, which could not be immediately verified by Reuters.

* Iran acknowledged for the first time that it had supplied drones to Moscow, but said they were sent before the war in Ukraine, where Russia has used them to target power stations and civilian infrastructure.

* External power has been restored to Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant two days after it was disconnected from the power grid after Russian shelling damaged high voltage lines, the United Nations nuclear watchdog said.

* The operator of Ukraine's grid, targeted by Russian air strikes in recent weeks, said it would step up rolling blackouts in Kyiv and seven Ukrainian regions in response to what it said was increased electricity consumption.

* Ukrainian attackers shot and seriously injured a judge in an eastern Russian-controlled region of Ukraine who sentenced three foreigners to death in June, a pro-Moscow official said.

DIPLOMACY

* German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, under fire for a Friday trip to Beijing with German CEOs, said his joint statement with Chinese President Xi Jinping opposing the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine had been reason enough for the visit.

ECONOMY

* Georgia is on course to become one of the world's fastest-growing economies this year following a dramatic influx of more than 100,000 Russians since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine and Vladimir Putin's mobilisation drive to drum up war recruits.

i have joined the military so i can kill the little pricks EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM
never trust a Russian the UN should nuke them all
Sending weapons to Ukraine is not best solution and will escalate the war,
Many Russians soldiers will die soon !! For what a litthe fat rat that’s fighting against or democracy a waste off time
Many subhuman Russian Z soldiers are already dead.
Ukraine: Turning Z's to Zero's since feb 2022
Putin alrdy lost it
Russians are cowards and they are loosing badly. No quarter
Send them the real deal M1 A1 Abrhams tanks nevermind the handmedown T 72 chit boxes
Its seems that Russians and Putin truely believes that NATO and the western allies will stop supporting Ukraine when winter comes because everyone will look after themselves, this clearly describes the difference between a human and a russian subhuman who lives in fear everyday to speak words they are not supposed to and every piece of paper that gives a nuanced view of the war is quickly burned and the author put in prison...All objective newspapers that could critize the russian government are banned and all foreign TV stations journalists are considered foreign agents, it seems that there will be no problem in finding a new James Bond for the next movie, casting is easy just look among journalists who has visited Russia within the last 12 month
Well Alexov we have gotten used to russian trolls being thrown out of this forum for being too radical in their ways of expression, and Russia is not a popular country in the world right now, which you should know. So it is not uncommon for us that there are holes in the comments which is why we have begun to use your name in the text, but in any case nice to have you back so we have somebody from Russia we can explain the real world..
I agree that UN and NATO (Turkey) should protect the grain export from Ukraine, making sure that Russia do not attack the grain ships. Russia do not dare to attack a turkey both because they are part of NATO but also they want to create a GAS pipeline to turkey...
True. Remember when Turkish fighter jet shot down a Russian Su-24 near Syria-Turkey border in 2015? Russia did nothing. They don't want to mess with Turkey.
Take it easy...Russia is loosing the war and world influence on a daily basis. Soon all russian borders and supporting countries will be in big trouble, other autocraties are beginning to see that the Russia way is the way to downfall for your regime, so they are rethinking their strategy to stay in power.
The Western position is way WAY to soft for the situation we face. Be more forceful its ridiculous.
Yes what are we waiting for
idk but its shameful. Why even have a military if you are scared to use it
yes let’s get it on before it’s too late
Calling it outrageous and constantly denouncing russia every day is not helping. Lets do something about it. Clear a sea lane by force if Russia will not voluntarily open it. Then its their decision if they want to fight our navies and commit suicide.
How come the russian devil can recruit fighters from all over but the entire western world cant come up with one person to fight for Ukraine?
that would be asking for problems. Turkey getting involved is truly the best solution, all things considered.
sorry, wrong thread.
because Russians are by default crybabies and it would leave them so but hurt that they'd likely escalate matters to feel better; that's been the standard operating procedure for decades.
Let UN ship the grain together with nato
that would be asking for problems. Turkey getting involved is truly the best solution, all things considered. Can't you see the headlines if NATO was sailing in the Black Sea, having to intermingle with the Russian fleet? They would propaganda that into something entirely different than the reality.
Imagine Russia being considered the 2nd World superpower a year ago, to being the 2nd best in Ukraine in less than a year. Yikes..
Russia was nothing only propaganda from the little fat rat putin
think they renamed him to Putler, honestly it's fitting; all things considered.
Tens of thousands of men fleeing???? Did this writer even do his or her due diligence???? Former Soviet republics reported hundreds of thousands EACH, fleeing into their countries, mostly men who left their families, including leaving wives and children behind. One male said better to have a distant father supporting the family than a dead father. More likely more men left Russia than got forced into conscription. Plus marriage data which happens before men go off to war, showed possibly 500K got forced to conscription instead of 300K .
Truth.
Thats still going to be a tough nut to crack on the battle feild if Ukraine can't get more troops. If nato is to cowardly to help Ukraine kick Russia out they should at least handle logistics and everything else behind the lines to free up more Ukrainians to fight.
Ukraine has a surplus of troops, as it stands now there is a wait list to get a posting.
Sure boris never went to the carribians he took a dive with his swimsuit and blew up the pipelines. His resignation was all part of a plan….
at least a thread where there's more ukranian bots than investment bots
unlike russia, Ukraine doesn't need any bots. they have the support of every decent human being on the planet
True only subhuman dirt would support russia in this fight
so like Belarus and all the countries that are silent because they too are former Soviet Republics that are leaving nuggets in their drawers because their own armies are worse even than Russian Army? You know which countries I speak of...
Do you want to be rich??? Pick any of these random people in chat and you could turn as little as a dollar into millions.
So, which stock must I buy to take advantage of this BS.
Ukraine has shown Russia is so weak and devoid of truth, morals and values , like the Republicans!
Rights
russia is currently turning kherson into a no mans land in order to set off the dirty nuclear bomb which they have aready blamed Ukraine for.. NATO must immediately make it clear that this will lead to the annihilation of every single russian soldier or asset on Ukrainian soil, including in Crimea
It will it would be a good thing for us justifying nato engagement
NATO will not engage as it has no grounds to engage, even in that scenario.
your right history proves, you can't trust the Russians to tell the truth,. They brutalize , cheat and steal....when they're caught they lie and blame the victim..
Thats why we will break their back instead
Sounds like your talking about the US government
Sounds like you are a subhuman traitor dirt ball
fakes... cheap propaganda..
