BEIJING (Reuters) - China has ordered major state-run firms to pause some purchases of farm goods from the United States, including soybeans, as Beijing evaluates tensions with Washington over Hong Kong, Bloomberg News reported on Monday, citing unnamed sources.

Chinese buyers have also cancelled an unspecified number of U.S. pork orders, according to the report.

who cares, bullish
No point to argue on what might haopen next. History will unfold what is right and wrong. Give ourselves a little far sighted to another 10yrs or 20yrs from now and from then we shall know if China Or USA is better strategized themselve into the world.
And I also wonder how long it will take Trump to come out and bla bla bla after this news. Or has his got Corona?
The wurst person the USA could come up with to adres some important issues to China is Trump. No tack, no knowledge , no nothing. Just shouting at a rally. This has wursen the address the rest off the world was making. Only a joined effort with great respect for China had a chance. Trump threw this all in the garbage. It will take 5 more years before all the countries align again to address some trade practices of China.
Of course the filthy Chinsect can't hold up its end of trade deal. Hong Kong wasn't in the trade deal. Now Trump can call them faithless.
Trump has to be careful to startup a trade war again. Cause the China Lion will Roar if he goes into the jungle to taunt at the Lion again. When the China Lion Roars, worldwide markets crumble. The Fed wasted 3T printing to prop up the market. They can't go on printing to keep the market up.
Who cares where they buy anything. Don't deal with thieves. They probably steal more than they pay for.
who has china stole their technology from then? lol
Please give proof that China stole...we waiting.
There are more than 1,300 American companies with business operations in Hong Kong, including nearly every major U.S. financial firm. The State Department said 85,000 U.S. citizens lived in Hong Kong in 2018. So draw your conclusions.
Why China decision is stronger than Trump
Tell me how well Trump has cared and respect his own people.
you are not American and therefor your opinion about America or our President means NOTHING. Go away.
Trump doesn't care about people but his pride or power.
I told you guys ... Trump can't have it both ways. He thinks he can do things and China would not hit back. So now China stops buying agricultural, then the farmers hurting again. The farmers doesn't want handouts cause we can't do that for long term. The farmers need a stable business. There is no way these farmers will vote for Trump.
Don’t you think he already knows this? He’s a businessman.
He is a reckless businessman man and end up being a reckless businesman putting his own people at stake. He thought he can act as the bos of USA as if he acted as the bos of his own businessman. No wonder he has crash the usa into catastrophe.
* end up being a reckless president..
China has 1.4 billion mouths to feed and 800 millions employed. When the West and other countries slow down their trade with China, their economy will be affected seriously and unemployment skyrocketed.
China has 1.4B consumers. In economic, consumers alway win. We only have 320M consumers, so there is no way we can compete head on.
just get along and allow stock to rocket up haha
it's all good, we can just print 20B for the farmers every year, works like charm all the time. let's go back to all the high this month. lol
China needs the US more. We will see once the US pulls manufacturing out of China in the next few years. And its not only thr US, the EU is doing the same thing. Lets not forget that the US fed the communist beast and made it to what its today. They both will suffer, but china will pay the bigger price.
tell me a period where the USA brand hasnt sold? Regardless of whose in the President seat, the USA is a world Brand. And has been since inception. World trade, oil done with US dollar. World embraces the US, regardless what this President has done. Tell me, where is the communist currency being used? The Chinese economy is where its at because of the US. And they will suffer mighty once US pulls its manufacturing. Again, what happens to a business when it loses its biggest contract?
Roland...I suggest you go take Econ 101. Once you understand some econ, you can come back and give some comments.
ah there he is. The paid communist china man. Why do you keep ignoring the questions from other threads. Teach us all this: why dont US companies have direct access to Chinese markets, like chinese companies have in the US?
The US and China are the same ..... they only care about power
no, in the US, what you just said isn't a crime
China does not need US..US needs China..Else it suffers economically..Thats the only reason trump got stumped and couldnt dump the deal
the world will suffer
really? I didn't know the rest of the world was lining up to buy 500 billion worth of Chinese goods. nor are there many other countries that have 500 billion to import
The raw trade #'s belie your narrow minded economic view. The Geo Political ramifications of a protracted economic global shutdown caused by the PANDEMIC will stir up political tensions beyond what China can handle home & abroad. Witness the proxy wars happening in Hong Kong and Venezuela & multiple hot spots around the globe. China Global Trade @ 12.4% US Global Trade market share @ 11.5% & Euro (Germany) @ 7.7%. Western Democracies US & Europe global Market Share combined outstrips China by almost 2 to 1.
DT's economic 101- seller pays the tariff!
What a joke.... :DDDD
Halting the purchases saves billion for US! So nice China.
That's what u get for bullying China
Haha....smart! Starve your countrymen....that’ll do the trick!
Lol, who is having beans everyday.
China mostly uses soybeans for hog feed.
HK protest is Human Rights n freedom, now happen to US is call riots, someone throw stone hit own leg... hahhaaaa
Yea Yea...Vandalism and violence is u call protest..
he is not diplomatic..
He is, actually. Just bluffing from both sides.
I'm pretty sure they don't buy food from us because they like us soo much. They buy food from us because they can't feed their population. Now when their people start getting hungry (CCP couldn't care less.) They will blame it on the heartless Americans. Also they know we are soft and might reinstate the special treatment in exchange for them not starving their own people.
So the tariff rises again
Trump is too weak and too easy to be manipulated by the ccp.
