March Madness Starts Early As Oil Price Fall On Relatively Light Volume Mar 13, 2018 11:34AM ET
Head-slap!  It is far easier to convert from processing heavy to light, than from converting from light to heavy.  The product mix will be different, with less low-priced tars and asphalts and generally less pollutants.  For those we can use canadian tar sands crude.
Are U.S. Shale Oil Producers And OPEC Heading Toward An Agreement? Mar 07, 2018 8:35AM ET
Since the US is not the only  location with tight oil, it is always valuable to gain insight into potentials and problems. And it is never wrong to break bread together.  Bon appétit.(ou bon profit?)
American Farmers Fear Trade War With China Feb 28, 2018 5:44PM ET
The American farmer should have no fears, I would think.  Not only would most of the other East Asian nations appreciate the chance to compete for soybeans and sell soybean products to China, but this would not be a good time for China to cut back extensively on its soybean purchases as it tries to increase its meat production and feed its burgeoning middle class.  Of course with drought in Argentina, they and most of the rest of the Americas would be glad to sell more beef and pork to China.

re: FERC’s Order 841  Let's hear it for the market, rather than mandates handed down from on high.  This is the equal to removing net neutrality on the internet.  Huzzah!  And no more than 100 KW min!

Big Oil Is Big Again Jan 30, 2018 1:24PM ET
While I am no permabull, I've noticed that a lot of people have stopped calling you one.  What?  Are you saying that oil bears have taken a bath!  EIA: "It's complicated." Yeppers.  And is the buzz true that Jamie is now a subscriber to the Energy Report?
What's Behind Russia And Saudi Arabia's Oil 'Bromance'? Jan 24, 2018 2:19PM ET
While 45K bpd overage seems like a lot, it is only about 2.5% of total Kazakh output.  OTOH, since they only agreed to cut 20K bpd, let's hope others don't have the same margin of error.  While it might be a translation error (don't have the original), I agree with their oil minister "this is completely miserable, this is within the margin of error."  Yep.

The Problematic Truth About U.S. Shale Oil Production Jan 10, 2018 12:21PM ET
Saudis push prices up for IPO, then crash it so they can buy it back at a discount.  Texans bathing in other people's money (Whee-hah, keep it coming, Pardners.)  Centroamericanos would like someone to find some oil off their coasts and thankful no tsunami from the earthquake.  And Venezolanos would like a «little» more Orinoco to go along with their pabellón criollo.
Could Iranian Unrest Create Oil Market Risk? Jan 03, 2018 6:51PM ET
The will of the people is strong in Persia.  Freedom is a powerful call.  I am guessing that many mothers will grieve before it is over.
Crude Oil's Pipeline Proverb Dec 27, 2017 12:18PM ET
Ouch!  Are you saying that Santa Flynn traded in his reindeer for flying bulls this year and had a very satisfying bear roast  for his holiday meal.  I am sure the leftover sandwiches were dripping with grease - and it wasn't petrol-based.   Enjoy!
Will Crude Hit $60 Before The End Of The Year? Dec 27, 2017 10:38AM ET
WTI hit 60 yesterday for an instant.  And Phil, did you not get the memo.  It is Climate Change, not Global Warming.  That way no matter which way it goes, Dr. Gore, Nobel Laureate, can claim vindication.
Top 5 Oil Market Events Of 2017 (And What To Expect In 2018) Dec 27, 2017 10:33AM ET
I had not put all that together about Shell.  Set up for a squeeze play.  Just like nuclear energy, or Big Oil for that matter, few look at the whole cost structure of electric vehicles.  More surprises in store.  Wonder what the name of Citgo will be when the Russians take ownership?  Don't cry for me, Argentina.  No, we pray for you, sweet Venezolanos.
We Need A Little Oil Dec 20, 2017 1:52PM ET

Honduran helicopter crash kills six, including president's sister Dec 17, 2017 8:46PM ET
According to my sources, both EU and OAS observers confirmed the vote.  I have also been informed that TSE, the non-partisan electoral commission in Honduras, announced Sunday evening at 6PM CST that Sr. Hernandez is the new president of Honduras.  Note this was 20 minutes before this article was published saying that the election was unresolved.  It would be interesting to read actual names and quotes of the wide swath of the diplomatic corps in Honduras who questioned the tally?
