I hope you listen to your own advice. I made no political statement until your teabag comment. You may not agree with my comments about Obama, but many world leaders see him in just that way. And they will take advantage of his weakness for the next year plus. Which is why I question shorting oil in this environment.

Russia and Iran in Syria fighting anti Syrian forces and ISIS. US forces in Iraq. Saudi has a budget deficit of 20% this year while running a proxy war in Yemen against Iran. Israel and Palestinians in conflict again. China moving to control shipping in the South China sea and making moves on territory owned by the Philippines and Japan. Japan moving it's self defense force to a full on military force. Oh, and America has a weak President that is more than willing to step back from the world and let everyone have at each other while he plays another round of golf.. . In this environment, what could possibly go wrong with shorting oil.. .

The problem with shorting oil is one piece of bad news and you could loose your investment quickly. Stops won't save you from a big gap up.

As we look at our charts, the headline risk to oil prices can be overlooked.

I believe headline risks are playing a part in the current oil price. Russia, Iran, Syria, and China are all stepping up there presence in world. One miscue and oil goes much higher.
Crude Oil WTI Oct 16, 2015 2:55PM ET
Oil companies don't make much, if any, money at the current price
Crude Oil WTI Oct 15, 2015 6:03PM ET
Putin needs higher oil prices. I would be surprised if he took some action that would drive it up.

Anyone have the link for the eia oil inventory?

I agree. The weekly chart supports that as well.
Natural Gas Oct 02, 2015 7:42AM ET
It was at 1.92 April 2012 and yes the oil producers are apparently given it away.
Natural Gas Oct 01, 2015 5:16PM ET
@Frankie Dee -hang in there. I started trading right before the 2008 great recession. It was tough but i learned a lot.
Natural Gas Oct 01, 2015 4:00PM ET
With oil prices so low, I understand oil producers are selling the gas instead of just burning it off. It costs them nothing to produce the gas since its a byproduct of oil production.
Natural Gas Oct 01, 2015 2:40PM ET
@Bazel Thane -look at the monthly chart. Once the April low has been broken, there is no support until $2.00 range.
Natural Gas Oct 01, 2015 2:04PM ET
It maybe a good time to go long once its closer to $2.00
Natural Gas Oct 01, 2015 11:45AM ET
We are near the April 27 lows. NG will likely break through this level and head toward $2.00. I know thats tough to hear but just look at a monthly chart.
