  • I love this forum, its a bunch of people who want the dollar to fail. And a bunch of people who want the markets to crash.

    •  FED buys bonds in exchange for cash, the cash got distributed in a form of checks to folks during the pandemic, very dovish supports of US compared to the rest of the world. This is called the "combination of Monetary and FIscal policy". When you have checks to folks, be ensured that the money gets circulated.

    •  Agree. My concern lies in the fact that the tapering back in 2015 has proven to be very difficult, they took 4 years to increase the interest rate up to 2.2%, and, to do that they had to continuously purchase assets. The Fed could do that very smoothly for almost 4 years, then at the first "small" crisis (frictions with China), they had to drop the rate once again, then the Pandemic.  So, now that the debt is much higher, hence higher interest to pay back with higher rates, I have serious doubt that they would be able to do any tapering. But, if Inflation will continue creeping higher, folks will soon realize that it is higher and that the current CPI is also made to lower it (compared to the 70ies). Worse than that, they would also realize that the Fed do not have many tools to fight it. That's my worry...
