The difference between the yield on the 10-year Treasury note and that of the 2-year Treasury is just 0.81 of a percentage point. That’s slimmer than the spread seen at Wednesday’s close, which was the slimmest spread since Jan. 5. That indicates that bond investors see high inflation in the short run, which could prompt the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates soon, thereby lowering economic demand and inflation in the longer run.
