Comment Guidelines

We encourage you to use comments to engage with other users, share your perspective and ask questions of authors and each other. However, in order to maintain the high level of discourse we’ve all come to value and expect, please keep the following criteria in mind:

  •            Enrich the conversation, don’t trash it.

  •           Stay focused and on track. Only post material that’s relevant to the topic being discussed.

  •           Be respectful. Even negative opinions can be framed positively and diplomatically. Avoid profanity, slander or personal attacks directed at an author or another user. Racism, sexism and other forms of discrimination will not be tolerated.

  • Use standard writing style. Include punctuation and upper and lower cases. Comments that are written in all caps and contain excessive use of symbols will be removed.
  • NOTE: Spam and/or promotional messages and comments containing links will be removed. Phone numbers, email addresses, links to personal or business websites, Skype/Telegram/WhatsApp etc. addresses (including links to groups) will also be removed; self-promotional material or business-related solicitations or PR (ie, contact me for signals/advice etc.), and/or any other comment that contains personal contact specifcs or advertising will be removed as well. In addition, any of the above-mentioned violations may result in suspension of your account.
  • Doxxing. We do not allow any sharing of private or personal contact or other information about any individual or organization. This will result in immediate suspension of the commentor and his or her account.
  • Don’t monopolize the conversation. We appreciate passion and conviction, but we also strongly believe in giving everyone a chance to air their point of view. Therefore, in addition to civil interaction, we expect commenters to offer their opinions succinctly and thoughtfully, but not so repeatedly that others are annoyed or offended. If we receive complaints about individuals who take over a thread or forum, we reserve the right to ban them from the site, without recourse.
  • Only English comments will be allowed.

Perpetrators of spam or abuse will be deleted from the site and prohibited from future registration at Investing.com’s discretion.

Pfizer, Astra have all said they can if needed update the vaccine in 6 weeks to profect from the new variant. So worst case scenario 6 weeks. people are talking like its 2 years ago. We have a vaccine that works and we know that majority of people that die are the elderly. another point is that even if you are vaccinated or not you carry the virus so get vaccinated

unless it comes out of Asia it does not seem to have any legs and causes only local problems. It was nice of peeps to panic and offer some nice duscounts but it is my guess sooner rather than later this will be a what varuant event

It isn't 6 weeks until a new vaccine can be distributed to the public. It has to go through clinical trials and if all goes well gain emergency authorization. So in reality we are looking at 6 to 8 months from inception before it will be distributed.

Anyone remember the Beta Variant? No? How about Alpha or Lambda? No and No? All these were the next big bad variant, Beta came out of South Africa and none moved the needle much. Just Wild Type from China and Delta from India. Don't they share a border? Alpha - GB- nope, Beta from SA - Nope Lamvda from Peru surely? - Nope Just China and India

Amesh Adalja, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, said travel bans were not an appropriate response. “First of all, we know that travel restrictions do very little to stop the spread of COVID-19,” Adalja told Al Jazeera.“Number two, it penalises countries like South Africa for being open and sharing this data.”

“In Africa, what we are most concerned about is the fact that a lot of our people are not vaccinated,” he told Al Jazeera. “And if a lot of people were vaccinated, we could be looking at a scenario where a majority will have mild disease when they get infected by the variant, and therefore really not put pressure on the hospital system.”WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said due to the “concerning” mutations of Omicron, the world needed to speed up “efforts to deliver on vaccine equity ASAP and protect the most vulnerable everywhere”.

Without the Covid irrelevant news for most. The Dow could well have been sitting at 36200 as it had broken the downward trend on the hourly chart. Next week with bargain hunting we could get there.
