Investment Strategy

The Sub-Fund’s investment objective is to maximise total investment returns consisting of dividend distributions and capital appreciation by investing in a global portfolio of Sharia’a compliant supranational, government, government-related and corporate Sukuk (Ijara, Wakala, Mudaraba, Musharaka and Murabaha). The Sub-Fund will be dynamically managed and expects to make semi-annual dividend Distributions and targets the distribution of semi-annual dividends as calculated around the end of June and December each year.

Biography	Doug Bitcon is the Head of Fixed Income Funds and Portfolios at Rasmala Investment Bank Ltd. He is responsible for conventional and Sharia’a compliant fixed income funds and discretionary strategies as well as Rasmala’s recently launched Sharia’a compliant trade finance fund. Doug joined Rasmala Investment Bank Ltd from European Islamic Investment Bank Plc where he served as Director, Debt Capital Markets for six years (based in Bahrain for two years). Prior to this, he spent 9 years at ABSA Bank Limited London Branch, initially as a Corporate Credit Analyst before taking responsibility for the expansion of the proprietary credit trading and fixed income investment strategies. Doug commenced his career as a Corporate Credit Analyst in South Africa after graduating from Natal University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
