Investment Strategy

The Fund’s investment objective is capital appreciation. The Fund invests at least two thirds of its total invested assets in equity securities of US and non US companies expected to benefit from the development, advancement, and use of technology and communication services and equipment. These may include, for example, companies in the following industries: ● communication and computing related outsourcing services; ● technology services, including computer software, data services, and internet services; ● electronic technology, including computers, computer products, and electronic components; ● telecommunications, including networking, wireless, and wire-line services and equipment; ● media and information services, including the distribution of information and content providers; ● semiconductors and semiconductor equipment; and ● precision instruments.

Before assuming industry coverage in 2000, Mr. Cross focused on quantitative research, risk analysis and performance attribution. Prior to joining Franklin Templeton in 1998, he worked as an economic planner for the State of Texas. Mr. Cross earned a B.B.A. with a major in economics from Baylor University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder.

Biography John P. Scandalios is a vice president, research analyst and portfolio manager with Franklin Equity Group. He is the co-manager of the Franklin Technology Fund, Franklin Small-Mid Cap Growth Fund and is a member of the Technology/Communications Research Team. Mr. Scandalios specializes in research analysis of the semiconductor industry. Mr. Scandalios joined Franklin Templeton Investments(FTI) as an analyst in 1996. Prior to FTI, he completed the management-training program at Chase Manhattan in New York, and was an assistant portfolio manager for Chase Private Bank in Los Angeles.

Biography Ian R. Link, CFA, Senior Managing Director and Equity Portfolio Manager of Wellington Management, is involved in portfolio management and securities analysis. Prior to that, he was an equity analyst and portfolio manager with Franklin Templeton from 1989 to 2003. Ian received his MBA from the University of California, Berkeley (1997) and his BA in economics from the University of California, Davis (1989). He is also a CFA charterholder.
