Does it make sense to purchase this like a regular stock and hold long term for say 10 - 15 years rather than a IRA?
Why wouldn't it make sense?
It would, if etfs correlated the assets that they track perfectly. Sadly, I've never seen one that did. Over the long term etfs tend to underperform whatever they are supposed to be coupled with. I still use them all the time, just trade around my position. REMX has been in my portfolio almost a year, but I have bought and sold many times. I'm married to my wife, not anything in my portfolio.

etf or index fund is better in an taxable account guys?. i'm looking at VTI atm, is it a go to invest now ?. since i have fidelity , i can't decide to go for FZROX or VTI
I'd go with VTI because it has higher volume. Technically, this ETF is an index fund. They are tax efficient in a buy and hold strategy.
I invested with fzrox. Its is up 30% now after a year. Zero fees is amazing.
Wait until Thursday when those unemployment numbers hit. Whew !
