I am getting very discouraged with the performance of the Sprott, PSLV.  There are advocates that say it will come back to a premium as a closed end fund but this has been a trend for the entire year of not keeping phase with SLV.

Alexander Kralev  SLV trade up 3.96% today and PSLV was up 2.67%.  That means SLV was 1.3% better then PSLV.  If you have a $100k holding that is $1,300 more in value.  Now having said that I would challenge you to start tracking the difference each day between PSLV, SLV, & spot as I have done and see if that doesn’t cause you to scratch your head as I have been.  I sold a small holding I had of PSLV units recently and added them into my SLV holdings.  I thought it would be wise to hold both but as I compared the daily returns it did not make sense to stay.

As a very close estimate of true pslv price you can multiply spot price by 0.36. Sometimes pslv sells at s premium, sometimes not. If it closes at a premium It will often readust the next trading day appearing as a loss when silver spot is positive. Depends upon how much premium the day before and how much spot moves up/down.

The 8 big bank Cabal that is associated with the COMEX, & hedge funds use SLV & PSLV in derivatives where short selling happens.  When SilverFutures fall purposefully, they cover the shorts in PSLV by buying.  Some call this arbitrage & others call it stealing & cheating as they use algorhytm trading software to steal your money.   The tough don’t give in & sell on emotion but rather play long term game of accumulate buy on dips.  Long term this is easy triple your money or more.

the answer is that when the funds stops selling units it goes up to a premium over silver. generally on down days. they will then sell units again when the volume is high enough and it will return to the price level of Silver spot. you can check the intraday premium/discount at any time on their website. net asset value section.

John Gasillt  Okay John, if that is the case, what exactly is the difference between a unit and a share?  Why would one buy a unit and another buy a share?

When the Relief Bill gets approved tomorrow, printed paper will direct value into hard currencies. Silver enjoys this luxury, and the demand within our technology sector will continue to drive the price beyond its resistant level. Potential for silver to skyrocket.

Interesting to think that SLV or some other entity needing physical silver in a large quantities can buy it directly from PSLV and let them take the responsibility of locating, purchasing, having it shipped to their vaults and then shipping back to the shareholders on demand.  Could that be the truth behind their lagging price?

The price lags because it moves back and forth between a Premium and a slight discount during their market operations selling new Units. They've been accumulating around 10 Millin oz silver per week over the last month buy selling new units on the open market. On some day's nearly 50% of all of the volume is the issuance of their new units. In essence the fund moves to a premium when they're not selling units, then moves back to the Net asset value of their silver holdings when they ramp up the unit sales.

Three units of PSLV is equivalent to one ounce of silver.  As I write this, that would be $28.80, or a 8-9% premium over spot prices.  There is no way a major player would pay that kind of premium to source silver.  I think the shareholder is also responsible for shipping from PSLV if they take delivery.
