SCO Comments

Embarrassing
Crude down nearly 9%, SCO up barely 1.5%. Slippage is ridiculous. Once again, the casino wins. Probably a good short st 6.00.
Rather SCO up 13%, which is about 1.5x inverse of crude, rather than 3x as it should be. What a joke.
this is a 2x. not a 3x like some think
yes you are right, but it cannot even live up to that. Crude is dumping and today this is .5x, not even 1x. It is a poorly constructed etf. It does not matter what argument people give about backwardation, etc. , it performs very poorly.
Closed out my position. Average cost was 5.43. Sold at 5.77. Closed out DUST as well. Ticker definitely not performing as it should so I took my profits off the table. Best wishes.
This ETF lost the credibility.
Bought DUST. Thinking gold is also about to waterfall.
Waiting for this to touch 5.50. Buy calls and hold until 7.50. I think by end of this week is possible to hit 5.50. One last pump for oil. Then diplomacy takes over in Ukraine and bottom drops out.
bought 500 at 5.58. Will buy 500 more at 5 if it hits. How long have you been trading this ticker?
bought 250 @ 5.10. Will buy 250 more if it touches 4.60. Then hold.
I'm up to 1790 share. want to hit 2300 before it goes over 6
this war will be done after weekend.
how that?
it drops 2x of WTI but it goes up with 1x... scam and criminal
.... just understand that right now, the SCO is having to cover some CL April @ $102.15 and then short some $ equivalent May @ $101.08.  We all know, the way to make money on the BEAR side is to sell HIGH and cover LOW.  Unfortunately, backwardation is currently having to cover HIGHER and sell LOWER, thus the slippage over time. Also remember to measure day to day from the 04:00 PM ET tick, when SCO is marked @ it's close.
Thanks JeffB for your explanation. Much appreciated. I will go through the details of it.. you are right, I should not buy anything without carefully investigating it...
.... good observation on your part though.  Just important to know "why" it is doing what it's doing.  Here is a pair of SCO (left) and the April CL contract (right).  In order for SCO to stay continuous over time, the manager is always covering some current month and shorting the next month(s), which are currently in backwardation.  Over time, this is the slippage.  The only BENEFIT to a trader that is bearish of crude oil, is that you are limiting your RISK, without shorting CL, where losses could be unlimited. https://invst.ly/xou91
2x huh? ******
SCO $6.50, CL (Apr) $102.13 @ 04:00 PM ET
oil down 5.8% this is up 6.67% , should be +11.6%
exactly, when the oil price reached about 105, I sold some of mine for the price of 6.59 and now the oil price is in the range of 100, still the same price.... honestly, I do not what's going on ...
Read the prospectus and understand the backwardation of crude oil futures. It is what it is and only you have control over your decision to buy.
: it should move the opposit of the oil price. but the movement is not symetric. it drop fast but it goes up very slowly. It was 6.5 at oil price range of 105 last week, then yesterday with oil price of 100, it was again 6.5
Time to buy leap calls at the money.
Day high $6.85. Closing price 6.28
they look ripe
