Tesla business in China will go wrong when tariffs are started. Opening a plant in China is just signing your death sentence. They will copy/reverse engineering and just make a new company with the knowledge (IP). After all, Tesla will sell zero (0) cars in China. Quote by Sun Tzu "you have to know your enemy..." just look up. I work in machine design/construction and have same problem...
when you think you're car (or other things) is build in US, sorry tho say, but you are a bit naive. Maybe it's 'designed' in US bud build in China, Mexico, Bangladesh, etc,...just look the product tag (if it wasn't removed/changed). As a consumer you don't know where it's coming from!
I recall uncle Elon saying that he hopes more manufacturers can copy his technology and stuff.Even if China copies Tesla, it'd take the a great 4-8 years to reverse engineer Tesla cars, software and everything. Tbh I think that it would be a miracle if anyone can copy Teslas software, and even if they do, their software gets better every single second and Tesla has thousands of cars out in the street already collecting information. If they copy Tesla then a few months later Elon will create completely new, ground breaking product with ground breaking technologies and pieces (such as solid batteries and stuff), so Elon will always be ahead haha
really, 4-8 years? I guess you don't know Chinese. All components come from Asia. It's no problem to copy a processor 1:1. 90% of batteries are made in Asia. Don't know if you ever been in Asia...maybe you have to plan a visit when it's allowed to travel again.
