If crypto goes bust, the chip situation might improve somewhat.

Dejan Rooney dont get me wrong, I am a dreamer too, but using HOPE as a strategy in the market by hoping for crypto to go bust overnight to fix the chip shortage is quite silly. Different chips, different fabrication, different contracts. You have extremely flawed logic. And HOPE in the market does not translate to profits. Just wait for this to bottom at $45-47 by mid June to buy in. Days like today are bear market rallies. Fed has big meeting in mid June to discuss interest rates. Expect much volatility. If they change language in June, be ready for $40. Be patient. Be hopeful. Be a dreamer. But don’t be foolish with your money.

Toyota reports on Thursday. This will shed some real light on the chip shortage. If they cant get chips, you best believe American companies are in for prolonged shortages. Stay tuned.

Jeff Page well I am pretty sure a chip factory fire trumps any contracts. To your point, if they are unable to get chips, based on contracts as you state, then that also highlights my point. My neighbor works at Toyota and was telling me chips, computers, and wires are backordered at least 2 more months. Dealership only getting 47 vehicles to sell a month versus previous 400. Paying top dollar for used cars to resell. Not looking good.

Agreed. Thinking $50, but $40 even better. Just have to be patient. The fact it did not selloff hard like Ford shows hedge funds needed to keep it bouyant to distribute more shares. Chip shortage is not going away.

GM Will be going head on from here into the EV evolution...look for a big shake up and problems with supply and demand, as they transition. The auto parts industry will have to make a lot of adjustments to make up on their loss of certain business.GM will have to appease its suppliers if they want to have a smooth transition....Looking forward to EV Era

Would not be surprised to see a similar selloff to Ford with earnings/guidance. Keep in mind, copper prices are rising, which EV use a ton of it.

The Lyriq, Cadillac’s first EV, is the start of a new lineup of electric cars and SUVs for the brand as it plans to make all-electric vehicles exclusively by 2030, according to Rory Harvey, global vice president of Cadillac. He said there will be no new vehicles from Cadillac with internal combustion engines, also known as ICE, in North America after last year’s launch of the redesigned Escalade SUV.WATCH NOWVIDEO04:14GM unveils its electric Tesla competitor, the Cadillac Lyriq

question: I remember analysts in 2013 saying when GM enters EV, they will crush Tesla and others. (which is why it took so long for tesla to explode up, people were worried about the big guys coming in) until the market realized the large auto makers were not reacting and then the small cap EVs boosted 1000%+ in 2 years. Doesn't GMs slow reaction time worry you as a long-term investor?

not at all, GM can now come in after learning from Tesla and others accomplishments, and failures....Being first sometimes give away advantages....GM stands to produce smoother I feel and will prevail as a leader, as will Ford
