      • SANTIAGO, May 19 (Reuters) - Chile’s Cochilco copper commission said on Wednesday that it was significantly raising its projection for the price of copper this year to $4.30 per pound. In January, Cochilco had forecast a price of $3.30 for 2021, but said it was updating its projection because of expectations of a short-term deficit through 2022 of refined copper and a drop in inventories in warehouses tracked by the London Metal Exchange. Cochilco said that increased speculation in the market was playing a role in bolstering copper, adding: “This could push the price to new highs in the short term.” The commission also predicted that copper production out of Chile would hit close to 5.8 million tonnes this year, a year-on-year increase of 1.8%, but below its previous forecast of just under 6 million tonnes

        • Drop in Cryptos should have no effect on copper stock or warehouse levels. Todays fear and drop is overbaked. Good buying opportunity

          • bought this stock after the commodity implosion in 2014 for about $4 a share and today its $43 (still not selling). copper is going to $10 over the next 5 years and FCX will hit a $100+. the copper shortage will only intensify in the coming years and all those US copper mining projects that were to expensive when copper was trading at $2/lb are now becoming more and more profitable. with FCX being a leader in the industry I suspect the FCF growth to gain further momentum in the long term. cheers!

                  • IMO, the shills and con men who are trying to bash this down are poised to lose, big. GS put a much higher estimate on copper prices, by 2025. FCX's FORWARD earnings justify a higher price, on this... GS cites a pending EV revolution.https://seekingalpha.com/news/3681842-copper-on-path-to-15kton-in-2025-goldman-says

                    • Well, you're the guy trying to use ad hominem argumentation against me, as if that refuted Goldman Sachs, which has a research team much bigger than your own conjectures... but go on. Keep making false assumptions. See where that gets you.

                    • Well saiid Sam and I agree with where Goldman Sachs is on copper and FCX is positioning itself to deliver the projected demand for this fast coming EV world along with other infrastructure projects.

                    • by fomo you mean copper almost tripping since last match due to strong demand in a market that's experiencing a shortfall?

                  • Probably good shorting opportunity at 36 if it hits. Believe this is a fomo hf pump. Sold position 2 weeks back. Seems sub 30 by end of April very possible. Infrastructure deal should be sell the news event.

                    • Read Seeking Alpha's recent article, about Goldman's price projections for copper, by 2025... Goldman claims that it will hit 15k a ton, by then, b/c of domand surrounding the EV transition.... which is not just copper to make EV's, but also the infrastructure (home charging stations, higher amp transmission lines, new "gas" stations with electric, bigger electricity production infrastructure, etc). Only a very deliberately self-blinded person would ignore that, and short FCX.
                      0
                    • DEMAND, not "domand". lol
                      0
                    • there has been a copper shortage the past 10 years and it's only going to get worse as time goes on as demand for copper increases. copper will be $10/lb by the end of the decade. if you are shorting copper you are fool and clearly don't understand the significant demand chasing small reserves of copper. will only get worse in the coming years especially with proliferation of EV and technology
