yall really don't understand how XOM operates and it shows in the comments. This company operates business poorly and the only reason they haven't failed is because of their size. They literally will spend quadruple or more to have work contracted out to other companies even though they could have the work done internally for a fraction of the cost just so they can limit liability exposure.... they buy into a field or company late...just look at their last 2 purchases...they way overpaid for XTO and now overpaid for Pioneer because they thought the West TX play wasn't worth their time

I worked for Mobil back in 80's and 90's. White collar production and exploration geology. Advantages and disadvantages regarding contracting. Contracting gives much greater flexibility, especially under current geopolitical environment and can become a huge cost saver as it relates to risk management. Overpaying is debatable as one needs to consider a willing seller, where there are synergies among assets and costs that XOM can ring out of mid-tier players like an XTO, Pioneer.

Never have I seen something as extrodinary as the hills behind me blood red and everyone so brainless no blinking an eye as if the warning wasn't near enough to stop going back in time. the reason the pyramid were built was for the same reason that many people in the past looked into the afterlife.
