I think the situation between Iran and the Saudis can lead to a tight squeeze in oil prices very soon leading to a spike in the short run.

I'm totally ignorant.  But, I've been watching and listening...  If I have this right.... . Transportation is intimately tied to oil.  So, if oil falls to zero, I should sell all my stock in UPS.  They are in transportation, and the zero cost of fuel for their trucks will drive them out of business...  O...K.... . Sell my Utilities, since their NAVs fall when the prices for the fuels they convert and sell fall to nothing????  Of course...... . What am I missing??

If oil prices go down, that benefits transports. I'm holding onto my UPS shares. They have a healthy 3% dividend and will make money no matter what is happening.

OK.   I'm ignorant.  Not brain dead, just uninformed...  Please explain...... . I run a widget company.  EVERYBODY buys my widgets every day.  The entire world is dependent on getting my widgets every day.. . Year over year, the demand for my widgets is constant.. . The people who supply the goop I use to make my widgets are getting better and better at digging the goop out of the forest. I keep asking about the same price for my widgets while the price for goop keeps going down.. . My revenue is constant and my earnings are doubling every 6 months.  I don't MAKE goop.  I use goop to make widgets.... . WHY DOES THE PRICE OF MY COMPANY'S STOCK FOLLOW THE PRICE OF GOOP?  I'm making widgets for nearly nothing.  I'm selling widgets for the same price as I did for the last 4 years.  Goop is almost free.. . Why do the stock prices for "energy companies" (who buy oil for almost nothing and make fuel, tower bottoms, etc, with almost no investment...).... follow the price of crude...???????????

Bulls have no clue what's really going on cause they don't do their homework. Exxon is so leveraged with debt it's ridiculous. its big cap investments haven't turned a profit or even revenue stream in years, and if they don't make huge cuts immediately it will be too late to save the company.. But of course, you wouldn't know that unless you did your homework, which I have done.

I hope you have your information correct as I have not done my homework obviously as I have read a few clips here and there and not once has any of these reporters have mentioned it, or good chance I've been reading the wrong posts/articles as usual. Thanks for the input.

Lol. Exxon has so much money in cash they don't know what to do with it. You're so misinformed. Anyone can easily disprove any notion of what you're claiming by simply looking at a balance sheet.

If Exxon cannot produce all of its oil reserves because they become either legally off limits or so regulated and/or taxed that they are uneconomical to produce, then the company itself is actually worth a lot less than shareholders think. And if Exxon knows this, then they are committing securities fraud, Schneiderman says. “If, collectively, the fossil fuel companies are overstating their assets by trillions of dollars, that’s a big deal,” Schneiderman said, according to the NYT.

There are huge interests in unloading dirty energy assets at the best possible price before bankruptcies become reality when oil eventually drops to USD 20... what we see now, is foreplay...

Manipulated USD weakness, driven by unrealistically low interest rate expectations and a short squeeze in oil assets, will help Oil test 55-60 before long term supply demand reality sets in and we enter another freefall. FED will eventually drive interest rates up beyond current market expectations. USD will strengthen and oil will drop... not yet, this "bull" still has plenty of squeeze juice...
