let's defend the company 2 minutes: they diluted the shares but it was to acquire tankers that are now 20% more expensive (35M vs 42M). After RS the eps diluted should be at .6. It is still not bad...

or is it a tankeromania, where everyone buys an expensive old tanker instead of contacting mr Hyundai?

according to a chart from allied shipbroking on Hellenic shipping news, a new aframax tanker is about 65M. If i provide a aframax tanker for 35 000 a day during 200 days. That makes 7M a year . So pshg buys a new Aframax 9 years old for 43.7M. You need to do less than 2.36M of benefit (on the 7 millions) to make it interesting....

the situation is the following: or i invest to buy 2nd hand tankers to get bigger and make more money, while the future may change (less demand on the lifetime of the tanker). Side effect: you don't care about the shareholders, it makes the value of the shares drop. Or i don't grow that much and i do some shares buybacks. It boost the value of the shares and the capitalisation can be used later to buy a tanker while their prices if cheaper (it won't stay like that the 25 years of the lifetime of the tanker, especially if there is a recession and the price of the starting materials drop). Ecologists or not, if it is cheaper to buy new, there will be more tankers if there are needed ...

can't you just use your cash to buy the share back to make the price go above $1 instead of pushing a rough RS ? What are you doing for the shareholders?

Two years in ... someone explain how market cap can go below quarterly revenues?  Earnings continue to eat away at equity?
