Welcome new ATH!
What could have gone wrong with KL that the has nosedived. I thank God that I took the decision to exit the stock. If I have procastinated, the loss would have been bigger.
that the price has nosedived
Investors seem to be to nervous in the gold miner sectors. KL should be trading well north of usd 60 with $1700 oz gold. I'll continue to add to my portfolio with these low valuations.
Me too... so why do you think Kl dowsnt go up?!!
I think that a lot of gold miner investors feel optimistic that the economy is getting better, why I feel they are selling off there stocks. Seems most fail to understand that gold is a hedge against inflation. Central Banks around the world is printing money at will. Yet gold prices are stuck in the usd 1690 to 1788 range. $1800 gold price will I believe is the price point for a major 10 year rally for the gold sector.
Something wrong ? Even if gold is down a bit, I do not understand the fall...
this the bottom?
Is it a buy now?
Enter at $35  and below
hey Mags, thanks for the suggestion, I am up 10% on it. Let me know your thoughts on where to sell.
wait until it reaches 60$ at least
Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. (TSX, NYSE: KL) is reducing operations at its Detour Lake Mine in Ontario until April 30 and halting an automatic share purchase plan due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said.
Give it a month and she will hit 50, good cash flow on hand, solid deposits
22,210  EUR 100 Stk.   -0,650 EUR
Didn't expect gold miners to drop same or even more than other companies.. Obviously operational risks involved with the virus, but with gold still around 1600 most of these companies have a decent cash flow
Look at GDXJ yesterday... ETF supposed to be less volatile, right? Thinking we will hear of one or more hedge funds that were forced to liquidate, it's one thing that may have caused a move of that intensity (JNUG was on the brink of being shut down by force, having lost so much paper value)
sorry that chart I posted was cut off on the right
We are now in a zone of support, major fib clusters in this price area.  A good place to average down.
jeez or not?
Australian gold mines only thing up this morning.  If KL can't go up today, I do not know what to think.
I agree... it's too much to understand.
Are you kidding me??? this makes No sense
Equinox Gold is another good gold miner like KL that should have great growth this year 2020. It will be 1 million oz miner in the next 1 to 2 years.
looking to add kl at 31
I was buying KL when it was 15 -17 usd range. At this current price point I'm not a buyer. Below 30 usd a share I may consider purchasing more KL stocks. Gold stocks have been lagging behind gold for sometime now. That will change soon.
Getting close to my buying target of USD 30 now:)
Jep bought earlier today! May well drop much further, but still seems good value considering a lot of gold miners generate great cash flow at 1600 usd
I've been saying that for months.  It just seems the shorts had it in for KL even before all the corona virus stuff.  GL with your position.
Thanks! Yep rough times for shareholders these days, but correction was inevitable imho. But no need to worry if you are in PMs in my view, since this asset class is one of the safest investments during a potential recession or currency debasement. A lot of investors forgot to value these assets, but will find out during next cycle imo and then gold miners like Kirkland will do very well, although we may need to be patient for some time, like im still experiencing with my uranium miners unfortunately..
how many times do we need to break up through $37?  It needs to be in the rear view mirror!
This company is one of the best gold miners I found. Consistent revenue growth. Consistently reducing AISC/ounce. And right now, this mid - size gold miner has comparable PE ratio to big boys like Barrick
Forward PE is much better than Barrick (though, of course, that's based on prediction to an extent). Having their mines only in safer, more predictable locations (Canada/Australia) is another advantage.
ghrrrrrr KL you should be doing better ???
My advice, close the graphic and wait for at least 6-18 months, the buy-back and the company value will kick in for sure
Analyst price targets are 25%+ above todays price. Gold is rising, and bond bubble may burst soon. Global economy soon in recession. Stay calm, this has everything going for it.
lol yeah I would be better off not looking. I do think long term this is a good buy
Eric sprott commented on kirklands reaction this week in the sprott money news podcast, you should have a listen
Kirkland Lake Gold shares sink deep into the red after outlining capital spending plans of $500M this year compared with earlier guidance of $245M, with exploration spending rising to $160M from $130M previously, led by stepped-up exploration at its newly acquired Detour mine in Ontario.
Ok that's the reason..
I don't think that's the reason... just a reason chosen by the person who wrote that news piece. Like when a green day in the market is credited to 'trade hopes' or 'waning virus fears'. Increased spending on exploration is far different from unexpected costs/writedowns; blaming a 7% drop on that is too farfetched IMO
Thx for commenting with your opinion Lex. Im a bit confused with todays price action. I might get in next week or so, when ill feel this drop has stopped..
Ok prob no strength tomorrow either until the spending boost is. Priced in
Lets see if tomorrow i get a better entry and this shows some strength . Patience.
I think this is overreaction because fear set in. Now weekly mas crossing under, so maybe in a few days could be a good point to buy IMO however im still studying mining industry but could it be that Kirkland did this deal in a bad time - gold too high - so investors fear they paid too much. I think the mining m&a deals are usually done during low gold price times. Those are my explanations
Why do you think it was overpriced?
Overpriced would be very subjective assessment. Comparing 1year forward P/E (since Detour assets change the picture greatly) for example, KL is much "cheaper" than Barrick, Newmont, Sibanye; the estimates I saw - 13 vs 30-34 range
Which I think is well expressed in that those three big miners are all at or very near their consensus 12month target prices, while Kirkland is now almost 30% below theirs!
