AGNC Investment Corp. is a real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company invests primarily in Agency residential mortgage-backed securities (Agency RMBS) for which the principal and interest payments are guaranteed by the United States Government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) or the United States Government agency. It also invests in other types of mortgage and mortgage-related securities, such as credit risk transfer (CRT) securities and non-Agency residential mortgage-backed securities (non-Agency RMBS) and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), where repayment of principal and interest is not guaranteed by the GSE or the United States Government agency, and other assets related to the housing, mortgage, or real estate markets. The Company funds its investments primarily through collateralized borrowings structured as repurchase agreements.

              • Initially, right after Opening Bell, I think it was profit taking by large funds, because there was 2M trades in the first five minutes. That dropped the price to about $18.00. After that, I think the "Chicken Littles" drove the price down further. I have seen nothing that would keep the price from going back up.

                    • My take away. Put it in your IRA... reinvest dividends. And forget about it. When you are ready to retire, switch off dividend reinvestment and collect income. Dont put too much into it though too volatile

                      • For AGNC, the Ex-dividend date (which is the date they determine how many shares each account has) is around the 29th of each month. The payout date is around the 10th of the following month. If you go above the graph, for AGNC, and select Dividends, it will give you that information.

                        • This software only shows dividends down to the quarter, so for AGNC, you are going to have to do your own math.

                      • AGNC is a mortgage backed REIT. They are the most risky and most volitile of all REITS. They have a large amount of liability and are bound to see serious amounts of dilequencies. Since REITS have to pay out 90% of profits to shareholders by law, it doesn't leave them in a good position to say the least. These are the dividend stocks that break hearts and portfolios.

                        • You are right, mortgage-backed REITS are the most risky, but of the mortgage-backed REITS, AGNC is one of the least risky. AGNC only deals with government backed mortgages, such as, Fannie Mae's and Freddie Macs. Granted, if you are a trader, it gets even more risky, but from an investor's perspective, who is looking at the long term interest payments, it is a fairly safe bet.
