Gross Domestic Product (GDP) measures the annualized change in the inflation-adjusted value of all goods and services produced by the economy. It is the broadest measure of economic activity and the primary indicator of the economy's health.
Usual Effect: Actual > Forecast = Good for currency
Frequency: Released monthly. There are 3 versions of GDP released a month apart - Advance, second release and Final. Both the advance the second release are tagged as preliminary in the economic calendar.

I find it crazy that stocks are rallying on this GDP number. Sure its been beaten, but such a soft target to beat. Confirms the economy is still in a bad way and very sensitive.

the forecast is very low... pretty easy to be beaten thinking in all the stimulus, tailored to be beaten, cool. stocks only go up!

this forecast was misleading... market moved in bearish direction after this news because they expected the GDP growth to be 5% rather than 4.1%

I think make it (US GDP forecast) should be reasonable. The forecast for USD GDP Q3 2016 doesnt make sense. Is too high (2,5%).
