Technicals are your best bet. The reason why things are difficult from a fundamental point of view is because forex moves are primarily (geo)politically driven since Brexit, election of Trump, ANC infighting in SA, North Korea and NO ONE can predict what politicians will do next. My view: Sign up for a good course on technicals, or start to train yourself by reading books on the matter and look at videos online on technical signals. That's how I trained myself over a 24 month period. There is no quick solution. Techs is however the only reliable route, forget about economic fundamentals, the world has been turned upside down by political clowns and its going to get worse.

The technical tools I use are mainly Stoch RSI, Exponential MA (9), MA (20), MA (50) and Bollinger Bands (20, 2.5). Also look out for major historical support and resistance levels.

Andre Du Toit . Thanks Andre for your advice. The MACD signal lines is also not to bad . I am looking at them lately and they seem to be a good indicator to see the trend. On what minute chart do you focus?. Regards. Johan

Johan PieterseDaily charts mostly. MACD is good, but beware it has a big lagging factor, which means you are mostly behind the curve. Basically all indicators use some sort of historic average data, however, using Bollinger Bands + EMA, in combination with a Stochastic RSI, provides the best predicative view on good entry and exit points; at least as far as I am concerned

US tax plan if approved will have a significant positive impact on USD. Trump to speak on Wed. Also look out for Draghi/Yellen speeches. Techs (daily view)- EMA 20 day just crossed 50 day MACD- positive ~500 Dir MVmt (14) + 25 Bollinger- just crossed neutral line RSI ~55 Looking good for upward movement on both tech + fundamentals.
