👆🏼 correct … peso was “artificially” made stronger with dollar weakness helping as well … 1 example gov’t was able to buy and import cheap HUACHICOL to keep people thinking gas was cheap … rhe so called 10 pesos el litro and dos bocas refining “mañana”

Under AMLO 1. Cartels control the political landscape by threatening, intimidating, or killing opposing politicians. This undermines democracy, as the popular vote becomes irrelevant if cartels eliminate candidates they don’t favor. 2. Control Over Borders: Cartels influence border regions, controlling and manipulating trade and migration. This power threatens national stability and pressures the government. 3. Threat to Journalists: Journalists' safety is compromised, limiting press freedom. Reporters investigating cartel activities face threats, violence, or assassination, leading to self-censorship and lack of accountability. 4. Limited Government Power: These factors significantly weaken the Mexican government. Cartels control political outcomes, limit press freedom, and manipulate border security, diminishing the government's ability to enforce law and order.

ChatGPT 👇🏼 The forecast for the Mexican peso (MXN) against the US dollar (USD) over the next 3, 6, and 12 months shows a mixed outlook, influenced by various economic factors. Short-term (3 months): The peso is expected to experience some volatility. Predictions indicate a slight depreciation, with the exchange rate moving from around 18.06 MXN/USD in July to approximately 18.56 MXN/USD in August. This trend might continue into September, with a forecasted rate of about 19.97 MXN/USD . Medium-term (6 months): By the end of 2024, the peso could weaken further, potentially reaching an exchange rate of around 23.86 MXN/USD in December. This depreciation is attributed to a variety of factors, including potential interest rate changes and economic policies both in Mexico and the US . Long-term (12 months): Moving into early 2025, the peso is expected to stabilize somewhat but remain at a weaker level compared to mid-2024. Forecasts for January and February 2025 suggest rates around 23.9

If we were to see peso depreciation at this magnitude, it would basically be at levels not seen since the COVID lockdowns. But I would likely see Banxico intervening to stabilize the peso if it depreciated to those levels.

(continued)...after depreciating to 25, it stabilized at 20 for the next couple of years. Then last year, it returned to 2015 levels and stayed there until the elections last month.
