I would be very careful to trade on political speculation... just go in and out following price action is what I intend to do this week

Question: when there's geopolitical risk in Korean Peninsula including threat to Japan, which is safe haven: JPY or USD?

NK claims that they have missile up to range of 8000km. So nowhere is safe. The latest test is a challenge to the whole world and a show of defiance. The test took place immediately after the UN Security Council meeting. Gold and JPY will be the safe haven regardless of where the risks are around the world. We all know that. NK's test 3 weeks ago showed that. French 1st round election showed that too.

The U.S. Treasurys are considered the safest fixed income asset in the world. The yen flight to safety happens when the Nikkei crashes. Everyone goes into cash and causes a high demand which brings value to the yen. So both are flights to safety or as I like to call it the fear play. When people are scared they buy the tnote and dump the nikkei.

Nothing's going to happen except muscle flexing. With China now sending back coal imports from Korea. Korea is gone. I'm sure those failed middle launches are just to save face. They have had many successful missile launches before why now are they failing? Trumps using Korea to take the media off his failing presidency.

Greg is right though, whenever there's chaos in Japan the Yen soars. Yen soared during Fukushima. They had to intervene to stop it.

Geopolitical tension, run up to French elections, fed rate decision... one thing is for sure: it will be a choppy week. I am cutting my leverage in half next week
