just the specter of tariffs on soy keeps the price low, fire sale prices for the world's end-users!

To me Soybeans are a monster buy here for a swing to 950 in 3 or 4 weeks. All the speculative long open interest was wiped out early this week. Lots of room for a push up now.

DanteValerian this strategy is right out of the russians play book in the late 70's early 80's ,they would saber rattle about escalating militarily in Afghanistan  and soy would drop like a stone, then they would  book  a ton of soy

Lots of newbies got trapped shorting high 880's today. Look for a grind to 920 minimum.

This is *might* be the first Green Day in 12 and hasn’t broken above 895ish. I don’t think there’s much to get excited about. Sideways action for awhile

Does anyone know if the Chinese Govt trading companies are in the COT report? In which category?...Wondering if they will go long before making positive noises on trade.

All market participants are in the CoT report. If the Chinese Government participates through a US proxy, they would be under the Commercials category.

Terp Longs have been washed out. Any good news at all, no matter how small, will set up a short squeeze and FOMO long buying frenzy. That's how this works.

I’m more focused on the reports July 29th (quarterly stock and planted acres). Short story is more acres of beans planted and less of corn for the planted acres and I’m guess there’s less corn and less soybeans on the quarterly report but could be more of both. There’s a lot of sites that have the trades predictions 24 or so hours in advance. Tomorrow the COT should be interesting too, see if the funds have started to short more beans or if they are neutral.

Longer term I think the market is going to be more irrational before it gets back to an equilibrium. It was only 6 years ago beans were worth about $10 more than they are now.

Good news for longs: 888 has held for more than one full hour. Now price has a shot at 902, and closing the week above it. That weekly close above 902 is required for an Opex week swing to 950.

Options positioning in Soybeans is becoming more bullish, with calls closing and ITM put delta piling up. As long as we can get a close above 902 for the week, this is a bullish setup going into Soybeans Opex next Friday.

One interesting point would be: If China raises tariffs on US Soybeans, but not on other countries, how can China prevent other countries to buy US soybeans and resell them to China?

Soybeans trying to put in a higher low on volume. The close today and for the week will be crucial. We want to see Soybeans close above 888 today, and above 902 for the week for any long swing.

you can talk technicals all you want but beans have passed the rational point a while back. I think there's more pain to come. China hasn't really fired back yet and when that news comes out I think things will go down an even more irrational path. Trend is still continuing on the daily and I will short the pops until that stops

Maybe, but the whole market is short now and if they will come to an agreement you will see the same volatility on the way up... Usally the market reacts more strongly to trump threats and exacutiin then to chinese threats, thats cause they already price chinese reaction the moment trumo says something...

Again, needs to stay 1 hour above to clear the overhead supply. Then it has a shot at 902 tomorrow. Important thing is for the week to close above 902, that sets up continuation to 950, where I plan to close most of my longs. If 888 fails again on a daily close I am out.

Well, there you go. Start the clock: 1 hour above 888 gives you a breakout trade setup at 902.

This looks better, RSI is showing promising signals. It will need time to set up that breakout above 902. If by some miracle this closes above 902 today, I will add to my long (buy call spreads, no more futures) for a move to 950.

This has recovered two thirds of its loss for the day. But still needs to close at least one full hour above 888 to set up a breakout above 902.
