Very boring trade this week, theta decay with such small range, closed my 840 Aug calls for 2x profit and looking to place a futures position rather than straight uncovered calls.

China went for the currency option instead of new tariffs. That will surtenly make Trump go all the way with the new $200B tariffs. China also has more options left; US sovereign bonds, boycott US products. If the trade war escalates, that might be imposed. Where this is going to end is hard to see at the moment.

Trump's economic policies are a desaster: pro-cyclical debt-financed stimulus, trade wars with the rest of the world and now he wonders why interest rates are going up.

US CHINA deal won’t happen until the crop is out of the field, by then we will see the avg yield and proj carryover- it will be a record..... hopefully farmers sold grain before they are forced to here in a bit. $8 might not be a bad price

You can easily google it and several “experts” are saying that. There are no facts in trade negotiations whether they are bullish or bearish

Keith Baker good point.  if brazil has another trucker strike or anything that slows exports china will beg for u.s beans.  short term it is a challenge for the producer but in time much better for u.s agriculture

At some point it will stop falling, and I believe we're close to that point now. The weekly chart shows a slowing phase, shorters are starting to consider their positions. There looks to be priced in a second tariff from China, but it will likely not come, not agriculture. Probably oil or other options.

Too many people on one side of the boat, and most of the big buyers are still on the sidelines. Shorts are taking the risk of getting caught in a limit up day, for maybe 20 or 30 points of reward over 2 months. A bit crazy. Smart shorts will buy calls to hedge, or just cover here and wait for a 38.2% to 50% retracement to re-enter.

Man look at the spread between Brazil and US soyabean. Don't forget 25% is tariff and almost 20% price has fallen since tariff was announced. 20% fall versus 25% tariff and brazilian soyabean prices going high.

That 580 mil bushel carryover was based on trend line yield of 48.5bpa... I could easily see 50bpa national average if not quite a bit higher. That being said, 50bpa would add another ~135million bushels... check out what the carryout was in 2014 at $12 beans and you will see why I am short still...

The Apocalypse and a plague of toads are priced in, along with Europe buying nothing from the US because 600 million bushels of beans will magically show up in Brazil to meet yet-unmet European demand.

If harvest season isn't until fall, there's a good chance this trend wont reverse for another 2 months. Trade wars aside, soybeans have been falling since 2012. This recent drop isnt even half the one in 2014.
