Economic projections from the Fed's December meeting show that officials expect rates to stand at 0.9% at the end of 2022, 1.6% at the end of 2023 and 2.1% at the end of 2024. Traders are already pricing in a more than 90 % chance of a rate increase during the Fed's mid-March meeting, and a roughly 65% chance of four hikes over the course of the year, according to the CME Group, which tracks trading.

so if they SURPRISE the markets with a quarter point rate hike today ... what would that accomplish ... besides making the markets UNCERTAIN about the reliability of their guidance? if they know anything they know that is BAD ... besides a quarter point will accomplish exactly ZERO ... so there is NO UPSIDE

"The policy objective at Wednesday’s meeting will be to prepare market participants for the major shift in policy that lies ahead: a rate hike in March, another in June, and a balance sheet runoff likely to start in June or July,"

btw ... I PERSONJALLY do NOT BELIEVE this plan will actually happen ... by this summer they will be looking at a recession and so there will NEVER BE ANY BALANCE SHEET RUNOFF ... and maybe 2 quarter point hikes at most ...

The fomc is timed in such a manner that the reaction of the market will be counted as days close in comex ..naturally carry days close value..

Thats why you usually get big gaps in the chart the day after fomc as the event happens after the comex closing figures and volatility drives it far away from the closing values..

What I find rather interesting and absurd  is the daily relationship between Gold  / EURO / BTC  when compared with their younger sisters Silver/GBP/Etherium. In most days when gold is stronger than silver, then the Euro is stronger than GBP and BTC is stronger than ETH,, and the same in reverse, when silver is stronger than gold , then GBP and ETH are stronger than the Euro / BTC , its like the same market maker setting the rules and controlling the whole lot !! I've been observing this for a long time now,, any thoughts ??

Dwain i am a fan of the ratios. I have noted similiar to what you have stated. Thank god there is no such thing between silver and oil and it at times seems in reverse. But in the bigger picture oul will move before the pms. So my thoughts

Hi Paul,, yes it always puzzled me,, I can imagine during market stress gold and the euro are more safer havens than silver and gbp hence they can have a matching performance, and during risk on environment its silver and gbp strength time,, but how / why market makers copied the same into BTC/ETH is a mystery ! Algos can be really weird sometimes,,,, back in 2018 if you recall that gold peg with the chinese yuan where gold struggled as Trump ignited the Trade war and china devaluated their currency sending down gold with it,,, and then suddenly gold removed itself from this peg with no explanation... strange
