Lean Hogs Futures Discussions

Please, Who can tell me, Why swine fever huge crisis in China doesn't push up future hog lean prices in USA?
Trade restrictions. Doesn't matter if the world is short if US won't sell to them.
US farmers lose so much market and money because of the trade dispute...
Id say we are going up but its a 50/50 guess ya know ;)
Hopefully we get some good news today, that U.S. poultry was just the beginning.... https://www.straitstimes.com/world/united-states/us-getting-close-to-trade-deal-with-china-says-white-house-economic-adviser
95% up 5% down
Think we head 74/75+ tomorrow or sink more?
"China is lifting a five-year ban on U.S. poultry, a goodwill gesture at a time when the world’s two biggest economies are trying to finalize a tentative trade deal.". Why could it not be pork instead?. https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/china-chicken-ban-us/2019/11/14/id/941701/
looking at historical data, there has not been 3 consecutive red days after a single green day since july, so I'm leaning towards an upward trend.
Lean hogs will fly to 70 +soon when US-SINO trade deal setteled
That contract already expired. We're already above 70.
We are already trading February contracts that is 73.375.. Today's movement has been depressing, it could not hold even 74... where will we end up like that?
Expire by 13Dec
Sure, why not have 3 limit down days in row!? Yes, tomorrow too. Haha. Good idea? Guess that 61 prediction is stronger than all the news in the world. I bought more from this point anyways. It was always my plan to keep buying on every dip. I don't quite yet own an alarming number of lost positions, but it is an impressive number!
China lifts restrictions on U.S. poultry meat imports: customs.. Will pork follows?. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-china-trade-poultry/china-lifts-restrictions-on-u-s-poultry-meat-imports-customs-idUSKBN1XO191

I think it's time for a green day
Why are they pushing price so low, any reason?
Trump forgot to talk positively about trade relations yesterday. The market is sulking.
Would expect we go higher to catch up next contract... but we sank more
Cattle fell as well
Wait for the jump!
what jump?
I know, not what I expected.
Seems red day today just before rollover... Pork is more expensive everywhere else than in US.. Prices are going up in Europe also because China in importing more than ever.
looks like we'll have a red day
what happens when the contract expires and my platform does an automatic rollover?
The position is recalibrated 8f you keep it open.
Whats going on in China with Hogs?
"China to set a record in pork imports" If only Trump manages to make a deal.... https://www.euromeatnews.com/Article-China-to-set-a-record-in-pork-imports/3371
Good chances are we'll see imports increase for the coming years, farmers only need Trump to make a deal.. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-swinefever-imports/chinas-pork-imports-to-peak-in-2022-driven-by-fatal-swine-fever-consultancy-idUSKBN1XG2S4
Well, down again today. 2 days left before contract roll-over.
Looking good! Expect this again tomorrow. 2 - 3% up.
Yes but Feb contract is more than 10 higher, now at 75.475, seems impossible to catch up now.
Let's see if we reduce the gap at least. A 3% up tomorrow would be nice.
About to open, I'm expecting a big jump today and tomorrow based on the PCPR. Let's see if I'm right on this one. GL to all.
In my platform its showing bottom reached at 64.100 and the monthly Range 64.100 - 74.225 before the contract roll-over
63.388 was the monthly low. Remember we just hit that this past week? I am prepared to close in loss Dec 12. I think it may take a minor miracle to return anywhere near 71 in the next two weeks. I am somewhat new to long-term hog trading. I used to trade daily on 1H bars... Now I hold for weeks and this will be my first rollover / expiry. I think this contract can simply end 10 points behind Feb and that's just the way it goes.
anyone with experience to my question: Is the gap needs to get closer to the next contract, before the contract roll-over?
No it doesn't
Correct. It does not.
Bottom reached
We have a friendly discussion going, some people calling for 61 as the true bottom before 71+. I also agree this could be the bottom and added another buy off of today's low. Fun times!
I think we're correct on this one Shikora. We have to see a huge bump next week. PCPR is 5.69, this is the highest I've ever seen for Lean Hogs. Monday this will start climbing and we'll reach 71 before contract roll-over.
February contracts are trading at 73.525 and we're just 6 days from rollover. Price needs to raise 12+% to close the cap, think we see the movement?
Settlement Day. 12/13/2019

Lauri, with your experience the gap needs to get closer to the next contract, before the rollover?
I lost all my money
Trae, always start trading with mini-futures, unless you have at least additional 10,000 in the bank just to trade. That's my opinion
Sorry to hear, did you use high leverage to trade? It's better to start with no leverage or small 1:5 or 1:10 then you can hold even when price fluctuates and if you're in trouble, can cover.
Never trade what u dont understand. Now keep pushing go learn and bounce back.
Hogs are kinda weak today, I expected at least 66 today.
My father taught me to trade. Diversification was and is a core principle. I made money in Silver, Sugar, Euro & Franc today while Hogs linger way off track.
True, investing in different instruments will be wise.
Posible green tommorow?
Look what Cotton is doing, +1.55% after the news :)
My pending cotton buy is quite a bit below. I can't be fully in every market, lol. Once Hogs hit 71, selling Sugar will be my next focus
I bought at 58, added few more on 64.
There is your 65.... I said yesterday
US was Canada top one export county for pork, 346 834 tonnes last year!. Now, when China starts to buy from Canada as well again, it means less pork for US.. http://www.canadapork.com/en/industry-information/canadian-pork-exports
us and china will make a deal in 2 weeks , but future traders still not sure
I hope that too but latest news suggest another delay... https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trade-china-prospects-exclusive/exclusive-u-s-china-trade-deal-signing-could-be-delayed-until-december-u-s-source-idUSKBN1XG2GG
 thanks, politico mater
