I also include a certain percentage of the DUCs as just more oil in storage since its accessible in roughly three weeks. That is why I am always short.

Well in that case the fundamentals of pure supply / demand are not there to support the price we have today. So the fall back bullish argument is opec can manipulate supply as they wish, making future supply uncertain. Good discussion. Thanks for it. When i have some spare time ill try and look deeply at the future supply / demand and global storage questions. You guys got me wondering....

RBOB was up 1.65% during NYSE. WTI was up 0.7%. Big divergence. I would say bullish for WTI but it could not match RBOB or even close during NYSE hours today so todays close although green should have been greener.

No offense to the bears in this forum, who i consiser to be very smart, but theres no way the masses are interpretting the report as bearish. Hence the two large spikes. Now the sell down was solid, but the volume so low any hedge fund out there could have knocked it down. What lays ahead is the iea, opex and rollover. Personally i think opex and rollover are holding this in a tight triangle. Once we’re past that the chart will be what it will be, but unless sp500 goes off a cliff again, theres more big bets to the long side still. So ill be betting the triangle breaks up. Thats my naive opinion :)

@MM my post got sent to moderation. So heres the short version. The figure of merit should be inventories / demand. Not just inventories. And actually both forward looking.

Mark Mac, it’s not as simple as you are making it out to be by referring to February 2015 numbers versus today. OPEC had just said they weren’t cutting(Thanksgiving 2014) even though the market was “oversupplied” then or at least was thought to be then.

Gulf of Mexico produces about 1.9 mbd. The hurricane affected 40% of production. 3.7 mbd seems plausible.
