The SamskipEndeavour has become the first ship to complete a journey using cooked vegetable oil as fuel, sailing from Rotterdam to Dublin recently. The sailing produced significant savings on fuel consumption as well as reduced noxious emissions...crude is doomed, EV and now cooking oil, long cooking oil?

Not enough space to produce enough vege oil to be a viable replacement for oil, or even to have any significant impact on oil demand.  By that I mean we don't have the land on Earth to grow it, and feed the population.  Vegetables = human food.  Oil = machine food (which is also needed to produce the vege oil, but that's another topic).
