Its not just the US fleet that will be against Iran in that case. The diplomatic offensive from Asia, EU (all countries) will be too high that Iran will get isolated. The max possibility of such an action is just a handful of days and with that too the crude oil may sky rocket and brent may touch 100. SPR releases may cover some days.

Mostly the strategy will be threat (Military build up, verbal threat etc) but not carrying out the action. Worst case some restriction of passage not the complete block.

problem I have with this whole Iran Sanctions thing is that US can only put pressure on countries to stop buying OIL, if they want to buy they can and will so this 1million of the market we keep talking about is possible it maybe whittled down to 500k or so, China says it will continue to buy and thats 400k worth

China can easily buy all of Iran's oil, and it would be in their interest to get it at a bargain price.

Following the U.S. pullout, Iran started boosting preparations for uranium enrichment by reopening a nuclear plant that was closed in 2015 after the deal was inked.

Do you really think they closed the plant? You know how long it takes to close one?!? They just stopped enrichment and allowed the control visits...

“I have previously pointed out that Americans’ words or even signatures cannot be relied on, thus negotiations with the U.S. are useless,” he said...Under the deal struck in 2015 between Iran and six major powers — the U.K., China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States — Tehran agreed to curb its nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of crippling economic sanctions...After the U.S. withdrawal, Khamenei had said that if the European Union wanted to save the deal, he is willing to give it a short window of opportunity so Iranian negotiators could gain “practical guarantees” from the 28-member bloc...In his remarks Saturday, he said that while negotiations with the EU continue, “we should not linger, waiting for the European pack.”..“Meanwhile, the numerous tasks that need to be carried out inside the country should be followed up,” he added.

TEHRAN – Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Saturday that Iran will disrupt Persian Gulf oil exports if it is prevented from exporting its own oil by new U.S. sanctions, according to his official website...Khamenei told Foreign Ministry officials that he supports President Hassan Rouhani’s recent remark that if Iran cannot export oil, no other country in the region will do so either, as “a crucial remark expressing the Islamic Republic’s approach.”..He did not elaborate on how Iran would prevent other regional countries from exporting their oil...But he apparently meant closing the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important choke points, or making it risky for oil tankers to pass through the Persian Gulf, also through which much of the world’s oil is shipped.

A tremendous amount of bullish news is priced in already.  It's pretty tough for it to get more bullish, unless KSA announces an export cut

Its not the oil is bullish. Its just technical gap fill/expiry play. Oil is doomed in short term.

https://invst.ly/81oaz  cl hit upper trendline perfectly and bears understandably are aiming for lower trendline ..  stuck at .236 retrace (6841 invst not accurate) ..  break 6841 > 70 ..  fail > new low ..  fri ended with a cliff hanger ..  currently long bc i see similarities to prev low bounce ..  i just need to know very roughly whether fall is expected to drop or rise in inventory ..  with all fund analysts here don't think anyone can tell me ..

This is correct...CLQ8 expired Friday @ pit close & traded the day with high 71.10 to low 69.37 & closed $1.00 up from previous day @ 70.46. This is why the monthly & weekly front month continuation charts are showing a close of 70.46. For comparison, CLU8 closed only 2-cents up from previous day with the deferred months closing anywhere from 11-cents to 34-cents up from the previous day. Technically CLU8 is still in downtrend with a 2-day correction of higher lows & higher highs than the previous trading days (Wednesday was outside day vs Tuesday with lower low, but a higher high). If a correction lasts more than 3-days than it could mean trend is turning. I already pointed out last week there were 2-major time pivot points hitting Wednesday & Friday. Monday & Tuesday, if continue upwards, would confirm possible change in trend.

HS pattern on the 60 min and by looking at it i would say we drift upwards again in Asia session on monday and first part in EU, before Things turn South again. Difficult zone to trade as neither side can be really confident here.
