Join Investing.com senior analysts Jesse Cohen and Clement Thibault as they review the most significant events to rock financial markets last week and discuss what's in store for the week ahead.

The format is simple: the two spend three minutes talking about each topic; a bell sounds when time is up, whereupon they move to the next subject.

You can listen to this week's episode on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/7GZpMxJrzkbXx46TyBlppM

The episode starts with: thoughts on the extreme moves in the Treasury market, where the yield spread on the U.S. 2- and 10-year notes inverted for the first time since 2007. The last three times this happened, U.S. recessions soon followed (01:30-04:30).

Next up: the two discuss another wild weekly performance on Wall Street, which resulted in great gains and losses nearly every day, as U.S. President Donald Trump helped unleash a bout of market volatility (04:30-08:20).

Finally, the pair summarize last week’s major earnings on Wall Street, which saw companies such as Walmart (NYSE:WMT), NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) and Macy’s (NYSE:M) report their latest quarterly results (08:20-12:45).

Turning their attention to the week ahead, the duo provides thoughts on how markets are likely to perform in the coming days and whether we’re setting up for another turbulent week (12:45-16:35).

They also share what to expect from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s highly anticipated speech at Jackson Hole on Friday, at which he is expected to clarify the central bank’s plans for a September rate cut (16:35-20:45).

The two address what’s in store on the earnings front, with companies like Home Depot (NYSE:HD), Target (NYSE:TGT) and TJX (NYSE:TJX) ready to report their latest results in the days ahead (20:45-24:50).

To close the episode, each analyst provides their stock of the week: Target (NYSE:TGT) for Jesse (24:50-26:40) and Foot Locker (NYSE:FL) for Clement (26:40-28:00).
